McCain picked Alaska governer Sarah Palin as his VP. There is a good possibility that Clinton supporters will vote for McCain now.

One party chose one candidate becoz he has the best jingle. Another party chose the nominee becoz he has the most grey hai. They blamed each other for being too old, prone to mistakes and young, inexperience. Then they both choose their running mate with exact same characterstics what they say was the weakest point of their opponent.

I am smiling and saying WTF, What a politics!

I agree with you Jonny, it could be either a real smart choice or a real dumb one. From her profile, it seems like it could be a real smart choice. She seems to be a really strong personality.

What happens if McCain has health problems in the office???? He is already 72 and has health realted concerns. He has always been talking about Obama's inexperience....in this case we will have a younger and a lot less experienced President........the question still arises...is this a master stroke??

I think it is really a calculated move on McCain's part. Since Palin is unknown, there seems to be a lot of curiosity in the media. If she could come out as a strong woman as Clinton, I think she will attract many of unhappy Clinton supporters and many independents.

One thing is for sure that she will make conservatives very happy. Her own life story - having a fifth baby knowing that he had Down Syndrome!!

No matter which country you refer, have to win. It does not matter how you win. Botton line have to win, as jonny said it may be a smart choice as well may back fire him. We will start seeing the effect after the first and 2nd debate.

Great choice! 4 Barack Obama. John Mc Cain has just nailed his coffin and I am grateful. This just shows how out of touch the Republicans are-Dem's and Independents weren't for Hillary because she was a WOMAN!! They were for her and Barack's core values of women’s rights, healthcare reform, and education reform. They were for her to get us out of Iraq. Has anyone in the media speculated that Romney, Palenty, KAY Bailey-Hutchinson or any of the other top contenders up until yesterday said no thanks to John McCain? After all it would damage their political future to be on the biggest landslide loss in history.

On top of all, Pallin's husband works for BP, BP huge McCain contributions
VP slot bought for Sarah Palin by husband's employer!

Pallin's way too risky and disaster to Reps. Rove sure rolled the biggest loosing dice of his career.

This is Obama's days, months, yrs and generation. Phenomenon politician of our era.

I am not ready to rule things out yet. The problems with democrats is that they need some independents or rebublican votes in order to win the white house. For republicans, all they need to do is make all the conservatives go out and vote on election day. This is exactly what Bush did in 2004 by courting all the Christians and that is what McCain is doing again. Palin is very conservative and this will motivate all the conservatives to go out and vote. Any Clinton sympathizers voting for Palin would be a plus.

With this choice, McCain just handed the presidency to Obama.

She just had a baby with down syndrome in April 08!! Being a pro-life doesn't just mean giving birth; it involves a lot more responsibility. She went to work THREE days after giving the birth. Just shows how she is a political animal first and  mom later.

Panicky McSame doesn't have the judgemnent and temperament to make the right calls.

tha dude, I think you should stop flying on clouds and get some closer look.  Do you know that her approval rating as governor is 80-90%.  That aint a joke.  And about her husband working for BP, are you kidding me, he worked at a pipe line employee, a blue color job not some executive which is goanna be very popular on battleground states like PA, MI and OH.  Also, let me reminder you guys that we all (including me) were pretty much celebrating Kerry's victory this time 4 years ago but he could not close the gap.

And Guest4, lets not start talking about Judgment all right, coz if you start talking about Obama's judgment like sitting in a church for 20 freaking year listening all that crap, his judgment to choose friends like Bill Ayers and Tony Rosko it will go all day long.

Bottom line, this was supposed to be a BIG democrat year.  The party polls i.e., voting Republicans or Democrats, democrats lead by 20% where as on the candidate poll Obama Vs McCain its dead heat and its no brainier that is because Republican choused the best candidate and Democrats choose not the best.  I’m a Hillary Clinton supporter and if Obama loose this election it will all be his fault for not choosing Hillary as VP(not even considered), which I believer could have been a slam Dunk.  Remember guys Gore lost by hundred and Kerry lost by thousand, in the last 2 election. Underestimating 18 million of her vote was a joke and it proves one more time that Democrats know the way to loose some how.   Feel free to disagree with me….

I was almost sure it would be Pawlenty

anyways, i hope and i can only hope that this pick does not prove to be the harbinger of, what seems like a probable defeat already, a crushing defeat for mccain and the republicans-- come novemeber.

if everyone could be as young, vibrant, dynamic, intelligent and charismatic as Obama; age/experience would not make any issue at all.

if every woman could be as energetic, tough, brilliant, dedicated and resilient as Hillary, gender would not make any difference at all.

good luck

(that said, the bastard man in me could not resist but sit back, relax and utter:"WOw she's hot!" )

Well said, jonny. I agree with you completely. I am a democrat. But the reality of democrats is that they had 3 presidents in the last 40 yrs. It is all because they make these silly miskakes.

‘Mother of 5 re...: O :O...wtf is abortion...does she have abortion in her dictionary??’ all these were initial reflexes out of my mind after hearing the news of her nomination this morning.

When I switched on tv this evening, it was all about her again putting some shadow over BO’s last night speech....pundits were digging everything about this choice of John MaCcain for VP- Sarah Palin . Mayor before current tenure of Governorship, Conservatives’ delight, and then this big block to bank on- disillusioned Hillary’s supporters- big chunk of which McCain people want to trap throwing this Lady from Alaska before the women voters.

Hockey mom, soccer mom, feminist, women groups whatever whoever....some of them might be tempted, few of might be convinced, but will women living with economic hardship vote for same Party and Policy that brought shambles everywhere?

And there is this big question- McCain’s age and who will be commander-in-chief in waiting??? There are plenty of voters, regardless gender, race and ideology, who are very serious and thoughtful before casting their ballots. Remember John McCain is 72 and voters are well wary of this.....even the tv pundits did not hesitate to talk about it. So, in case if something goes wrong, they would like to have someone like Joe Biden as commander-in-chief not a hockey mom who, it seems, will be busy changing diapers.

No matter what, Hillary prevailed finally and as put forth by so many commentators, this election will be historical in any case- either African American in White House or an women as VP.

(no disrespect to anyone for that abortion mention by the way)
