I am in US as tourist ie. B1/B2 VISA status. Now, I want to change the status to H-1. If you have an idea on this matter please feel free to share.
yes there is;
step 1. Go to Walmart
step 2. buy Erasure
step 3 Erase B in your visa
step 4 Write H on top of the erased B
and you are all set.
Hello Ramita6,
Typically, when someone enters the U.S., supposedly for a short visit (e.g. B-1 or B-2) and then tries to change it to a longer term visa (L-1, H-1, etc.), the INS may frown upon it (and may not grant it), but the consulates definitely frown upon it. In most of these cases is to avoid this type of change. If you have already obtained the change, it may be very difficult to procure a visa when you need to travel abroad.
I hope it will help you. Please contact me if you need more clarification.
Thanks
Prani
I agree with kathkotha.....the other choice will be to scan your B1/B2 visa and photoshop it into H1 visa and reprint it.
My understanding is that it is very very very difficult, if not impossible. Better to return home without overstaying, then apply for H1B from there.
I heard that some of the consultancies can help in changing the status from B1/B2 to H1. Does anyone know anything about such consultancies?
Don't think So. Changing From B1 status to any other status is very difficult.. F1 may be a little easier.. for some colleges.
H1 quota for this year is already over. Even if you find company which can try you have to wait till OCT 2009 to work legally.
