Many of you here may have grown up with the Mills and Boon romances; I relished some of them too before being hijacked by Agatha Christie. Here is an article on the phenomenon: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7516672.stm

I don't recall reading any Mills & Boon books, but I was heavily into Agatha Christie mysteries.  Actually, I think I might have read them all - Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple and the rest.  Even today I like to watch BBC's Agatha Christie's movies whenever they show it in PBS.

gone are the days when M/B's were all about sweet love stories and romance , the latest ones are too explicit ...nothing short of being a porno read :P I, never were a mills and boon fan . Yes, Agatha Christie one of my favourites too.

Mills and Boon were the compact versions of romance novels for the ones who had grown out of The Three Investigators, Famous Five, Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. But the romantic details in the M& B novels almost measured up to Sidney Sheldon's carnal descriptions for similar circumstances in his novels. Therefore, it was spicy and fun without a volume to carry around.
Regarding Agatha Christie, I always happened to pass her over to read Sherlock Holmes ones instead.
