I would not be surprised if Mr Kul Chandra Gautam is one of the richest Nepalese people in the US. I know his family plus have been to his house. Very nice house... loved it. But he earned every bit of the wealth through hard work and discipline. He is one Nepali we should all be proud of and applaud him for the contributions he has made.

Anamika1, I don't know why you are getting so defensive on Mr Gautam and his wealth. And I am not sure whether Mr. Kul Chandra Gautam or Mr Sonam Lama Gurung really like having their personal / private details dished out in public in this manner, by people who have claim to know them. Personally, I can name at least 5 people of Nepali origin within USA whose current wealth is about USD10MILLplus, excluding the paper wealth. But they will reveal themselves to more popular media when such time comes. Until then I respect and honour their privacy.

Axara. I am not being defensive. I do not know his true value nor am I interested in knowing. Was just stating my observation. The reason I said his house is nice is not coz it is a mansion or anything. I just loved the simplicity and elegance it reflected of him and his family. It certainly does not flaunt his wealth. As you know here in the US, people's houses or car do not always reflect their means. Some people live under and others live over their means. By the important point I want to make is I am very impressed and proud of his achievements, humbleness and his intellect. He makes me proud to be a Nepali.

I apologize if I offended you. Was not intended to offend anybody.

Metalgal, why da f are you bringing personal dets about Sonam Budo here?  Atleast tell the truth as I know all about his humble origins and his rise to success.  Also could ya stop giving Bull that his stores are as big as Walmart...Are you friggin crazy?  Listen, the stores are as big as any other grocery super-markets in Manhattan and he has 2 stores in Manhattan and 1 in Brooklyn.  He also owns the Yak Restaurant.  However, he is NOT the richest Nepali in the US.  There are many others Neps here who have more than 10Million in equity/real-estate/assets and getting all their names here is totally unnecesary.  If we were to count Nep speaking cats, there is a Sikkimese (who used to be at JP Morgan), Palden daju who makes more than 2Mill per year!

Latoboy, you idiot...Sonam Budo lives in Queens not LI.  And you are friends with his daughters, you poser?  Sadly, they don't hang out with Nepali cats, so you theory of being friends has just gone down the drain.  Get your facts straight, pseudo high-roller!!

Anamika1,

It was not about me, rather about Mr. Gautam himself. I am sure a man of such stature and for whom you have so much respect and regard would not be too appreciative of you dragging his name onto this wealthy_list. He belongs on a totally different list, and google yourself to find out.

Becoming a millionaire does not impress much anymore. My economics professor constantly used to say, there are more millionaires these days because of inflation.

Becoming a multi-millionaire is better but still do they have a lifestyle that even the Zionists might envy.
No way.
I think it would be really something or would provide a sense of pride for me personally if a fellow nepali has accumulated enough to have his/her own private jet and is "rich enough not to waste time".

I am actually looking forward to see a self-made Nepali Billionaire in the US in my lifetime. That would be quite a feat by that nepali whoever scores that figure first.
