Hello Guys,
I am planning to visit Washington, DC for two days over the weekend for some work. I was wondering if some of you DC-familiar people would give me advise/suggestions to visit "points of interest" such as monuments, landmarks, memorials, museums. I need your advise because I only have less than a day to tour DC and if I could get any guidance on visiting the main/popular points of interest, that would be simply great.
Would it be better to take your car in the DC area or go there by Public Transportation. Thanks a bunch in advance.
Best.
You can take your car to park in front of Capitol Court. Take a walk from Capitol Court to the washington monument. As far as I remember, its 16 blocks. In the mid way, just on the right you will see an ice skating court. I am not sure if that is there at this time of year. Be sure to post back if you find that place still for ice skatig. Take a round at washington monument and walk right away towards White house. Don't go there during late evening, you will hardly see white house. Make a day trip. Also dont foget to visit Pentagon Mall.

If you love glamorous war memorial please visit all the memorials including the WWII memorial, Korean war memorial, Vietnam war memorial, Iwo Jima war memorial, Air and Space museum (not all section).
I hear they are planning Iraq and Afganistan memorial. Please plan to suggest what you would like to see in those new additions. If you feel lack of credentials for those two memorial, be prepared to get drafted.
Smithsonians.. at least that was what they called it back then.. my fav was the air-space museum

Air-space is also one of my fav museum.
Thanks all of you wonderful guys/girls for your suggestions. I will let you know how it goes. Yes, I am also thinking to visit the Air and Space museum, for sure, among the Capitol Hill, War Memorials as they are close by.
Does anyone tel me how to get to the Iwo Jima memorial from the Capitol Hill or the WWII memorial???
Thanks again.
If I want to be within walking distance of Smithsonians and national monuments (including Capitol Hill), where is the best place to park?
Also, does anybody know of a decent, reasonably inexpensive hotel that is within the walking distance of the major attractions in DC - Smithsonians, White House, Capitol Hill, etc.?
I know I can probably google this information, or go to Hotels.com, but if any fellow Sajhaites have personal knowledge, that would probably be more accurate. What say you?
