Flips,
good to see you. i did not compare 'ramkrihna'( haha... 's' went to take his dinner :P) with new artists. but as Samsara said, even he is not as good as the hype the media once gave him about he being the next Narayan Gopal haha...
Samsara,
LOL! yeah i know. some of the folks who used to run without undies in
my neighborhood back in the good old days when they were kids are now
models and singers hahaha..i mean i could myself share some glory of
their "celebrity life" (according to them) and it would have been all
good for me, if they were good enough for a decent overhaul in the
business. but the sad thing is, and i am not sure if they are aware of
their own limitations, they're there for a year or two merely to blow their own
trumpet and the reality of uncle life will hit on them. hahaha....
what bothers me sometimes is that there used to be quite a few talented
folks back in our school days who did not get any opportunity
whatsoever for some exposure. there was this guy in my batch,
originally from Darjeeling, who used to sing REALLY good. he used to
write his own songs and compose them at a tender age and trust me he
was good. if there was enough scope for a newbie like him back in those
days, looking at the success of some of these mediocre singers, i am sure he would have been cashing on his talent big time within a
year or two. Too bad the scope and appeal the field had in
those days was so limited, he didn't even bother to give a shot in Radio Nepal
notwithstanding our suggestions, but instead chose to live a secluded
life (artist wise) away from the country. And now when there is a
decent scope, we have a model and a singer in every other household
hahaha.. A real sorry state of the nation to be honest.
Having said that, I think it's still good for budding talents (if they
are good enough), for now they have at least a place to struggle and prove their worths. Just like politics, the music industry is also going
through transient phase and until a real singer is born in between, we
will have to intermittently bear with these 'dhobis' and their never
ending rants of their own love saga hahaha
back to jack johnson for now
