San,

I know Sajha is your baby and you have every right to give it any kind of haircut you choose. But as a frequent clicker of your site, I too have every right to voice my grievances.

It looks like creative work is getting a very low priority in your new format.

1. First, the headings for Stories/Poems,Ghazals/Humor section are collapsed. Why can’t you display the five most recent threads and give an option of ‘More’ for these headings as well? Are we really that less important than ‘Kurakani’?

2. Kurakani & Classifieds & Immigration take precedence over creative writings. Call me biased, but I favor “Ek haat testai” over ‘Graduate Lady Wanted for Marriage’ any given married day.

I don’t know about other writers, but I write here because I want to reach to more people. I have always been as shameless as humanly possible about it. With this thread, I am only taking it to a new height of shamelessness.

I come to Sajha because nobody promoted me more than you did in the beginning (not even SNDY). I have always felt deeply grateful and a little embarrassed because I was not worth it.

There are some very good writers/poets in Sajha. I am sure I speak for all of them when I ask you: “Did your dingo eat my thread, San?” ( It’s a Seinfeld line, I have no idea what it means).

I hope you will reconsider. By now, Sajha to you must be more than just a product. Whatever you reply, please don’t tell me to do: “Hey sum_off, you can always click on ‘I like Old Style’."

The reason we are still humans is because we are so used to defaults.

Cappy, ole chap....twas surely not meant for you ! duh! I am just so very amazed at "Let's be real men about this" attitude. :S And also i have to confess, I have not read most of the posts in this page..it tends to be somewhat repetitiveafter a while.the whole bit about BS -ing is well...yawn inducing. It sure is great to have one's blood racing (no puns inteded here) and having word-fights .But as day comes after n ight, surely there will be some sore losers who get a tad too personal .And boy...do their "mardangi" come out in full force then@@#% ha ! "YEAH I AM WILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO SAY WHAT I WANT OT SAY. IF PPL HAVE A PROBLEM THEY CAN COME TO ME AND NOT GOTO BIG BROTHER AND BITCH ABOUT IT." BC - My sentiments exactly.I am that way too as I am sure many others are as well. BUT What about the guy (or girl ) who doesn't have the intellectual, mental and emotional tools that you have to handle bullies because they did not receive the same type of education as you or come from the same economic background? I say give them the tools to develop that same confidence that you exude. Teaching them how to fight bullies is one example of empowering them. By no means is it the only one but it's within our power here to do it.So why not I ask?

I agree with loote's last post. I liked that movie and liked those lines. Following story may also be relevant here: One day, the Buddha was sitting upon some steps meditating when a group of boys came by and began insulting and taunting him, attempting to make him angry. After some time, one of the boys observed that the insults were having no affect upon the Buddha, who remained sitting quietly on the steps. The boy finally asked the Buddha how he could just sit there and not become enraged at the terrible treatment he was receiving. The Buddha answered the question with a question of his own, saying, “If someone offers you a gift and you refuse to accept it, to whom does the gift belong?” The boy thought for a moment and then replied, “Why, it continues to belong to the one offering the gift.” The Buddha then told him, “Likewise, I am refusing to accept your insults, therefore they remain with you.”

. Dear Webmaster I am a regular user of Sajha.com, but i hardly ver create any thread. But ur new style is something that I really hate. Whenever I open the thread and go back, it takes me to the new style. NAd of course I need to click to old style. Please also think about those who uses internet from Nepal, it's freakin Dial-up. I know you wore tying to be be creative and it is good. This is my feedback, " I REALLY HATE NEW style. And i dont want you to say to change it to old style. You are getting lots of feedback and u know what to do Mumurdom

Already time for closing statements? He he No one going to filibuster this? So this finally boils down to Om Mai Padme Hum, huh? Oh you bodhisattvas of compassion!

I have enjoyed the conversation and hope most of you did too. As I said earlier, I think there is a bit of both that is required to deal with difficult people. The main difference, as I see it, at least amongst most of us, seems to be the degree and order of the method to be used. Clearly there are total pacifists too and total warriors, but I get the sense many of us here are probably both depending on the circumstances. As always, that's the sensible middle regardless of which side of that middle you might be leaning towards.

That said, San bro, I look forward to the changes, if any, that you said might be coming this weekend. I realize you have received some flak for the changes already and will prolly receive some more, and it's ultimately your call which way you want to take Sajha, but I want to reiterate that once we get past the adoption and learning curves, I think what you have done is the right thing and it will bear fruit. It is a very sensible approach and is the way of the future, in my opinion, and I am glad to see you headed in that direction.

Sum Off -

Jeez, what a ride! From your thread becoming San's Dingo's lunch, to the new layout, to US politics, to Hillary's body parts, to trolls and bullies, courage and peace - I've enjoyed the ride! Thanks for the thread. I look forward to the US politics discussion whenever that works out for you.

Thanks and best wishes to the rest. Hope to see you all around and enjoy your weekend.

CH

:)

And this quote to Loote and SNDY:

"To go against the dominant thinking of one's friends,of most of the people one sees every day, is perhaps one of the most difficult tests of character one faces in life "

- Based on a quote by Theodore H. White:

{Edited to add the quote and correct grammar, typos}

I don't know what the big fuss about but Admin, please stop making sajha full of groupies which is against the very basic principal you have founded upon. After roaming all the sites I liked this site just because I can get "gulio, tito, mitho, piro" at once. If I just want read only intellectuals subject there are plenty of websites to join. If I just wanna hear "ganatantra" I would join mysansar. The fun at sajha is to hear from "tikhe" to "pakhe". Bear in mind that what makes your site sucessful is net traffic, building a "nagarik samaj" will not benefit you at all. I understand you have to listen "ghurki" from few people to leave sajha, but the market of trafiic will force them to return, any net guru like you should know better. To fight trolling and keep the good contents, it's simple - let the post be expired, ranked based on no. of response and no.of hits. I noticed it has become already semi mysansar by letting originator to delete response. Please keep faith on people despite few rotten ones. Believe in the beauty of human brain to deal with it, trusting people are the ultimate answers.

Mr. Truth is right on this...We need wildcards here on sajha otherwise this place would be a boring dumpster for only the groupies/political wannabes and wannabe intellectuals to congregate. Someone needs to put these wannabes back in place and we do need the wildcards WITH VALID REASONINGS to shut a few of these cats down (BC, Bhaley, I are the few who come to mind...Hell no, ain't friggin promoting myself here). Also, on the subject of trolls, Though sajha and any other site out there needs to get rid of its trolls, I can only hope that the witch-hunt doesn't end up taking some of the better contributers here. However, trusting people as you said Truth bro, is not an option here. As per the Planet of the Apes: "Beware of man, for he is the devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates,he kills for sport, or lust or greed. Yes, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him. Drive him back into his jungle lair: For he is the harbinger of death." ...SO DAMN TRUE and this excerpt was done 40 years ago!! A bitch-slap to Aristotle's face!! hahahah And Torikotyel listen, cats like you wanna start talking shit with not one word to say about the topic at hand wheneva they wanna and then go about the other way when they realize they've nowhere to go. WTF?? Hell no, I ain't forgotten this shiz that took place and ALL YOU CAN do is just hope that I never find out who you are (since you already seem to know me and my biz)...Once I do (and I will), then lets complete the necessary without using words anymore. Thats where I stand on this coz there's No backing out now, smartypantzz!! Lets put this thread to rest...

I dunno what specifically you guys mean by "groupies", but for me having groups does not equate to any sense of exclusiveness. I look at groups as ways of organizing and presenting content pretty much on the lines of lets say a My Space or Google. Some discussions are best had in large groups and some in smaller groups. Anyone could subscribe to these groups and it this would help customize their Sajha experience to their specific needs. Sajha needs both a Tudikhel/Hyde Park-type open environment, which Kurakani provides, as well as a more controlled discussion environment so that different types of debate can take place IMO. Anyways, I think San bro's probably taken up as many suggestions as he reasonably can for the moment, so it might be a bit premature to talk about groups at this point. Samsara said "Someone needs to put these wannabes back in place and we do need the wildcards WITH VALID REASONINGS to shut a few of these cats down (BC, Bhaley, I are the few who come to mind...Hell no, ain't friggin promoting myself here" LOL. As well intended as your statement was, I am glad you stopped where you did. I think commitment and concern for Sajha and it's content should not translate to vigilantism because it could backfire if not done right or if people perceive you are pushing too much into their space. Just a thought. Loote said "Bring it on" OK here goes: "Loote is SNDY's puppy, nya nya nya nya nya na" Seriosuly, would I ever do such a thing, Loote?

Capt. saab, I haven't read the most of the posts, but since you addressed me: "Brig Ma'am - Good to hear your thoughts. So you also subscribe to the Loote school of bully management, huh? :) Having known you all these months, my gut tells me you are a much more courageous woman than you want us to believe with that statement you put out. I have a hard time believing that you'd be able to ignore a neighbor who smashed your window and emotionally hurt you and those around you. Not once but a couple of times. If you wouldn't put up with such an act in your everyday life, forgive me for expressing disbelief in your 'ignore' policy here on Sajha" -I wouldn't wait for my neighbor to smash my window couple of times nor would I show my courage and go fight with him/ her..I would rather call police ni..in Sajha's case, San :)..You don't go and fight with those murkhas...For me, fighting them is not showing courage..it's stupidity..and believe me, there's a thin line between courage and stupidity.. And yes, Loote is SNDY's puppy, and SNDY is Loote's mummy..he he..jpt..all in Cafe spirit hai..

in a posting streak today

while i'm at it, just wanted to tell you san bro that we need to have a separate section for 'science/technology' instead of or in addition to the more specific one we have now: computer/I.T.
