Thank you SEIKO ji and riten ji. SEIKO ji, did you mean GC or GF? I meant GC. SEIKO ji and riten ji, can my current company ask USCIS to revoke my GC if it doesn't like me leaving that company? Any suggestions from other experts please? Where is Santoshji? - luchha

Once you have your (10 year) green card, it is yours. Neither your employer nor your (ex-) girlfriend/wife can have it revoked.

If you got GC through employment it is suggested that you stay with your employer for about 6 months to be on safe side. This is to ensure that when you applied for GC it was with proper intention. While the time 3 months for 6 months is debatable you'll be safe if you stay for 6 months. Otherwise there might be problem while applying for citizenship.

Thank you disLIKED_Ir, Kirsten, bideshi and kernel. I also heard about this 3 months or 6 months or 1 year time-frame. But not sure if that is true. Does anyone know about anyone who got into trouble because s/he left the company as soon as s/he got the GC? - luchha

Even after crossing 180 days while pending AOS an applicant CAN change the employer by exercising AC-21 rule, what difference it makes to move on another employer after getting GC in hand??? This is very much debated issue, and no one has reached any proper conclusion as USCIS doesn't adhere any rules regarding the stay within the sponsoring employer. While filing Citizenship, USCIS MAY ask to provide 5 years of tax return. It would be wise to file for Citizenship after 6 years in that case.

Thank you laborpermji. So that means the only potential issue would be during filing the citizenship? And if I quit the company now, the company can't request USCIS to revoke my GC immediately, right? - luchha
