Namaskar Sathiharu, I am in US with F1-Visa and have graduate assistantship for three years and would like to bring my wife who can not read and write (plus a two year boy). English is out of dream. Is it possible to bring her to US with me? I am already missing her so much. I am going to Nepal in September and would like to bring her with me. Could you please help me by responding on the following issue 1) Whether it is possible? Have you heard about similar cases? 2) What would be the best way to secure the visa for her? Tapaiharuko Sujhab ko lagi muri muri dhanyabad. Kainlo

Dalle kailo Ji, yes, you can bring your wife here. There is nothing to do with her education. but you have to show enough fund coz you have your son too. I think graduate assistantship will not be enough so make some documents from nepal showing your parents have enough income to support you and your family while in US. I don't see any problem other than that. Good luck Saan Dai

Dallekainlo Saan dai is right But I would say, since you have assistantship you don't have to worry about making any papers back in Nepal for your wife and son. Just collect some money from your friends deposit in your account here in US, get a bank statement with sufficient money. You may need your own money for their health insurance because the International student office will not issue I-20 until you deposit some money for their health insurance and this is refundable in case the visa is denied. Apply for F2 I-20 for your wife and your son, return your friends' money. Send I-20, ask to apply for F2. Let your wife know not to slip from her mouth that she is going to live for a long time but just until your study. They will definitely get visa. Don't let your beautiful days spent without your wife and son. Its really good to be with the family. Best of luck. I would be glad to know when your family gets visa. I hope this is helpful to you.

I don't see any problem since u r a graduate assistant. But once your wife is here it'llbe really hard on her since she doesn't read or write English. So,till she comes here, why don't u enroll her in english class in Nepal so that she can atleast communicate while doing grocery or even use it in simple day to day life activities. Just my two cents opinion!

Respected All, Namaste once again and thanks a lot for your suggestions! How lovely it is that Bajeko_Sekuwaji has said: you are right- I am afraid to loose my Jawani with out my lovely kid and wife. Germany's suggestion is absolutely acceptable since my wife is almost uneducated. It would be nice idea to get her acquainted with speaking English. Like most of the time, I realized once again that there are so many beautiful hearts, Nepalese hearts who are ready to support wherever you are. Friends, I am thankful for your best suggestions. Please give me more boost up, I am little bit nervous nowadays. I am scared whether it might really hard for my wife and the little one to manage day to day life being here in US. On the other hand, I would like to have them with me or I dropped my study and go back to be with them. Thanks friends- you have always been great!

Friend, Don't get scared and nervous. You will be fine with your kid and wife. Dont drop your study because of that fear. you will easily have your wife and kid with you and you can keep your study up either. Only the thing you have to have is determination that you can handle it and its sure that you will. Dont worry that your wife is uneducated and cant speak English. English is a language and everyone can learn a language. It is just the matter of time. At least we will have your son's bright future. You dont have to pay a penny for your kid in a public high school. so do it man. be brave. you just have to manage some money for their health insurance and it will be easier for you once you get job. And I hope you will definitely get job since you are a TA or RA whatever. So go ahead and get your family with you.

yes, borrow some money from your friends, deposit in one bank, get the bank statement from that bank. After you get the statement, take almost all the money from the bank and deposit in another bank and get the bank statement from there too. Take both statement to your international student advisor. Do not show too much money, otherwise there may be a question how you made those money. so talk to the international advisor first about how much money you would need to show in your account to support your wife and child. Send the I-20 issued for your wife from the school, also tell her to make a NATA PRAMANIT document from Naxal police headquarter. also send your transcript (official - sealed ) to your wife. they asked for my wife. They want to see if you are studying good and your wife and child would not hamper your studies.
