How to send money to Nepal?
Hi guys,
Can someone tell me how I can send money to Nepal?
How can we send if a receiver does not have bank account?
Please help.
Use Moneygram. It's the cheapest way to send money. www. moneygram.com to find location nearest your area and then in kathmandu
- Ana_CA Ji,
How long does it take? Can you elaborate a bit on process?
Few months back, Western Union reduced the remitance cost competitive to Money Grams. Western Union is accessible any major bank branch in Kathmandu whereas MoneyGram is accessible only in limited area in Kathmandu.
Ana dahling you back.......
good good good
Either MoneyGram or Western Union, your money is available in Kathmandu within 15 mins
As for the process, go to any major grocery store such as Giants, Shoppers Food warehouse (depending which area you are) or any check cashed store. Fill up the form and hand them the cash. They will provide you control/transaction number and give that number to your receipeint/s. That's it.
what is the rate as fee for the service ? have some idea ?
As far as I know, upto $6,000 is around $30 and if it is under $999, the fee should be around 6/7 dollars.
And Importantly, Receipeints do not need to have Bank Account in Nepal or country of destination. All banks require is - citizenship copy in Nepal for identification.
Moneygram is easy. I am not sure if they have various fees depending on the amount you transfer. Once you fill up the required paperwork, there is a number provided which the receiver has to provide when they need to go collect the money. They (receiver)need some form of ID back home. And yes the trasnfer takes place in a blink of an eye.
i just send money to nepal day before through muncha.com .though process is little hectic, but ya first time they do not charge any thing and after that it has real cheap rates cheaper than money gram and western union.
send your debit card to nepal and tell them passwird to them over phone so they can withdraw money any time when they need. There are lots og ATM machine all over Nepal.
Saan Dai
best option is via muncha... I have tried moneygram (they gave me a sorry exchange rate), tried western union ( high cost and sorry exchange rate), and did the debit card as well when I was there (transaction costs too high and exchange rates are unfriendly as well , not to mention you can only draw out so much everyday via atms, and standing in line inside for teller is a nightmare). Muncha is fast, easy to set up and remembers who you sent it to , so you can do it again and again from your laptop within a minute.
