Passport in Embassy of Nepal in the U S A
Did any one have problem renewing passport in Embassy of Nepal in the U S A.
Let me tell you what happen I sent in my passport 3 and half week ago in D C to renew but I was expecting it in a week. That’s how long it took 5 years ago. That’s how long it took for my friend year ago.
So I called after a week, and my trip was in two week.
The answer I got was we just received it week ago so it’s still in process. And I told the person can you do it little faster I am leaving for Nepal in two weeks. Person there said the guy who does it is not in the office, he went hospital cuz he had a head ache. I asked when will it be done then person said it says on the application 2 weeks.
Ok……….. I waited 2 weeks I still didn’t get it and I was getting worried cause my trip was in a week. So I called again and the guy answered rudely “ya.. still in process just call tomorrow so that I don’t for get†I was being nice so that I could get my passport back in time. So I kept saying ok.
So I called back next day and then the person said it’s in process of being done. So I thought ok finally. After 2 day I went to check my mail box it wasn’t there reason I went to check is I sent return prepaid priority mail. I went next day it wasn’t there so I thought may be post office is taking time. So next day just to be sure I called DC again and the person said oh I think it’s mailed I said can you check. The person came back and said it was mailed yesterday. I was so pissed I had 2 days left to go to Nepal.
So I check day before I went to Nepal and thank god it was there. Man three weeks 2 days it took to do 15 min job.
I was in Nepal and I asked the passport making place how many days does it take there they said it takes 2 days……..
Then I was thinking in USA even if all the nepalis living in America sends there passport to renew same time same day. It won’t take that long to renew.
Think about America I am sure they have millions of passport application and they have to do all the background check and all that, even then it doesn’t take them that long. It only took week and a half to get new passport for my kuire friend.
Then I am thinking when will the ways of nepalis working style ever change, even coming to America they work like in Nepal.
I am not talking about us who work here in and live in US I am talking about Nepal government employees.
Not to mention my friend send in his passport to renew and got it in 2 week even when he went to pick it up. The funny part is he called and told them that he is going to be coming to pick it up. When he went to pick it up after 1 and half week it wasn’t done they told him to come next day and when he went there two men were just chatting away doing nothing. And when he went there next day the guy told him it’s not done and he told them he is leaving the city in an hour then they told him wait. And it took them only 15 min to do it………
Please share your story if you had same problem do you guys think we should do something about it…………………..
Keep writing more may be somthing will happen about this issue
suvachintak1 nothin will happpen. as long as nepal doesn't have a good efficient and honest government other things such as the work in passport section at Nepal's Embassy would be stagnant

Does anyone know how is Nepalese Consular Section in New York? Is it faster to get passport/visa proessed in that office as compared to embassy in DC?
i am sure more people had same problem.

It was back in 2002 Jan. I sent out my passport with all the documents and fees. I waited for 3 weeks and it never came back. I called them many times. Many times they did not even answer the phone. I hardly got to talk to one of the idiot and he said it will be mailed in 1 week. 4 weeks passed nothing came in the mail, I again called them, same idiot told me it is going to be mailed tomorrow. I waited another 5 days. Nothing came in the mail. Then I had to findout who was that son of a bytch working there. I was already loosing my temper and I requested my father to take care of it. Somehow this idiot happened to be from our district back in nepal. My father introduced himself to him, talked to him for few minutes, and later asked about the process of my passport. He made some fake excuses and convienced my father that he will receive it in 3-5 days. After that in about 5 days I received my passport in the mail. took me quite 6 weeks to get it done.
I know the names of these phuckers, just dont wanna spell it here.
I know many of you have this kind of bad experience with Nepal Embassy of Washington DC.

It sound like idiotic and you are calling your own name , are you still depend to your father, since you have communication problem, do you think it is rational talking about after 4 years ? You must be the son of Home Secretary, because only his relative dependent father. are not you?

Are you from Dolaka as well. If you are then that must be that Tamang budha. he called my roommate once when he saw my roommate's permanant address as Dolkha.
It looks like he calls everyone if he see Dolkha as a permanant address ......He (Tamang Budha) is one of the lazy basterd who works there.

HAVE YOU GUYS EVER HEARD ABOUT EMBASSY OFFICIALS WORKING 60-70 HOURSILLEGALLY!!!!!!!!!! THATS WHY ALL THE WORKS ARE DONE LATE. THEY WORK 60HRS + AS WELL TAKE SALARY FROM THE GOVERNMENT......
I think somebody needs to write article and send it to kantipur Publication back Nepal.
Keep it private guys! and keep it cool! You have to understand that the embassy is always there to do it's job but it might fail at times to complete a task due to limited resources. It doesn't mean that you should personally attack the staffs like Mr. Tamang and so on! They're doing their best and it's a tragic thing that the Nepalese Government can't afford to designate enough men who could help the embassy to function properly and smoothly. No more personal attacks plz and try to be sensitive before revealing the names of the workers!
Why you complain about passport while your father, uncle, brother are having bribery money from Indian and Nepalese and giving authentic Nepali Citizenship under the table.

I agree that every one of should worry about national crime...... But that does not mean we should close eyes on other problems. So let people know what are the problems that we are facing. This way we can solve problems that might be coming to us.
And in my opinion if we do not point finger to individuals, it would help solve the problem faster (because system has problems, not only individuals).

I was just browsing through most of the threads and came across this one..i found it really interesting and was kinda amazed at how so many ppl are being harassed by Our Embassy Officials in DC..I was in DC two months ago to renew my passport..I went to the Embassy and tried to fill out forms..I couldnot find any forms and no employees in sight..so I started to climb stairs..The door that i knocked on was supposed to remain shut..i had no idea who was in there..and the door was ajar..I just peeked in..There was a man reading a newspaper..I just asked for some forms to fill out..He didnot even look at me ..He just said go downstairs and wait
On my way down I bumped into this tamang ass hole...He was mad that I came upstairs..What was i supposed to do?...he asked my full name..He looked at me and said do u know so and so??..He was a minister at that time.,I just said yeah he is my uncle..I got my passport renewed in 20 freaking minutes..
Moral of the story..
"Tamang is aopportunist asshole"
"Make sure that u have connections..(sketchy will do)"..
