Khaobaadi, We are not permitted to drink beer or alcohol into the church area. We should know church is a sacred place like our Temple, and we have to respect all religion as well. So please do not misinterpret the word “drink” is for a soda not a beer. Regardless we are appreciated for your comment. Anyone who would like to join NEW YEAR party please let us know in advance. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2063. :-)> ishwor

How big is the Nepali community in North Carolina? Particularly in and around Durham (RTP) area? Is there a formal organization? Do they meet and hold functions regularly? Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Chatmandude, Nepalese community is not that big as NY, DC, MD, BOSTON, or CA. I guess more than 500 families are here in the state; mostly in Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill) area and Greensboro area. We do not have any public data about Nepalese population, but for sure it is growing everyday. I have met few people moved from MD, MI, VA. UNC, Duke and NC State all 3 big universities are in Triangle area. Other UNC around the state like (Charlotte, Wilmington, Greensboro etc.), Wake Forest in Greensboro, Salem University in Winston Salem. The formal Nepalese organization in the state is Nepal Center of North Carolina (NCNC). NCNC host most events with collaborating other organization as well. They do not want to miss the party like New Years and Dashain. For more details go: -http://www.geocities.com/ncnc2003/ HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL 2063.

Cursory check in the web showed that 2 bedroom apartment costs around $800 per month, 3 bedroom costs around $1000. Average house costs in average :-) $230K.

Housing prices put Americans on the move Residents are leaving high-priced markets in the Northeast and West Coast for more affordable places in the Sun Belt.
