"The Beatles" need no introduction. They have been recognized by many critics and social historians as the most popular and influential music group of the 20th century, probably the greatest band ever.
More than just the leaders of a movement in rock music known as the British Invasion, the Beatles were the main force behind changing the concept of popular music stars from simple entertainers to social and spiritual gurus. While the group remained hugely popular throughout the decade, the Beatles gradually transformed from fresh-faced boys singing songs about love into complex young men writing about a world full of political and social upheaval. For many critics and music fans the group reflected the turmoil and change that gripped society during the 1960s.
The Beatles comprise:
- John Lennon
- Paul McCartney
- George Harrison
- Ringo Starr
Let's pay tribute to this greatest band by compiling some of the greatest numbers from them. Let me do the first honor by including one of my favorite numbers "REAL LOVE"

Jo Jo was a man
Who thought he was a loner
But he knew it couldn't last
Jo Jo left his home in Tuscon, Arizona
For some California grass
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back Jo Jo
Go home
Get back, get back
Back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Back to where you once belonged
Ooh, get back Jo
Sweet Loretta Modern thought she was a woman
But she was another man
All the girls around her said she's got it comin'
But she gets it while she can
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back Loretta
Go home
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Yeah get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
whoooo
Get back Loretta
Your mummy's waiting for you
Wearing her high heel shoes
And her low neck sweater
Get back home Loretta
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Yeah get back, get back
I sometime feel very lucky to be studying in the city of beatles. I think a true beatles fan must come and see the museam of beatles in liverpool when they come to england.
Yesterday......another favorite of mine.
=========================
Yesterday,
All my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly,
I'm not half the man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she
Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said,
Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday,
Love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.
This is a catchy number Hey Bulldog
Sheepdog
standing in the rain
Bullfrog
doing it again
Somekind of happiness is measured out in miles
What makes you think your something special when you smile?
Childlike
no one understands
Jack knife
in your sweaty hands
Somekind of innocence is measured out in years
You don't know what it's like to listen to your fears
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
If your lonely you can talk to me
Big man walking in the park
Wigwam frightned of the dark
Somekind of solitude is measured out in you
You think you know me but you haven't got a clue
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
If your lonely you can talk to me
Hey bulldog
Hey bulldog
Hey bulldog
Hey bulldog
I Want To Hold Your Hand
=======================
Oh yeh, I'll tell you something
I think you'll understand
When I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
Oh please, say to me
You'll let me be your man
And please, say to me
You'll let me hold your hand
You'll let me hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy inside
It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide, I can't hide, I can't hide
Yeh, you've got that something
I think you'll understand
When I'll say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy inside
It's such a feeling that my love
I can't hide, I can't hide, I can't hide
Yeh, you've got that something
I think you'll understand
When I'll feel that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
In My Life
The Beatles, Rubber Soul, In my Life (1965)
There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more
"Those were the days..." Mary Hopkins, the album was actually produced by Paul McCartney.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/music/sites/maryhopkin/pages/biography.shtml
In this video it's sung by someone else.
But a great song nevertheless, the story of my life :)
Music & Lyrics: Gene Raskin; performed by Mary Hopkins)
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days
IMAGINE
This one is one of my all-time favorites and how apt it is to the present context of hatred and turmoil...
JOHN LENNON ROCKS.....Eh........
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
Mr Lonely, here is one I took inside. I took this picture out of ignorance as they do not allow visitors to take pictures. This was the best one that I could get hold of.
Mahisasur, thanks man for the picture. I hope they did not trouble you for taking the picture. :). You are a good musician yourself and a fan of the Beatles too, I assume. Please share any information and/or pictures that you have of the group. I will appreciate it.
Thanks.
LFC, give me some time hai :)

Something
I love this song...this is so good, both tunes and lyrics... Check out the video. It features all the wives of the Beatles. George Harrison and Ringo Star later got divorced though.
LYRICS:
=====
Something in the way she moves,
Attracts me like no other lover.
Something in the way she woos me.
I don't wanna leave her now,
You know I believe, and how.
Somewhere in her smile she knows,
That I don't need no other lover.
Something in her style that shows me.
I don't wanna leave her now,
You know I believe and how.
You're asking me will my love grow,
I don't know, I don't know.
You stick around now, it may show,
I don't know, I don't know.
Something in the way she knows,
And all I have to do is think of her.
Something in the things she shows me.
I don't wanna leave her now.
You know I believe and how.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
I love this song to death...The lyrics is so good. The best Beatles song for me.
This video was shot in one of the concerts held in 1987. It features George Harrison, Ringo Star, Eric Clapton and Elton John.
This video is from the concert held in 2004 after the death of George Harrison and it features Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney.
LYRICS:
=====
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you
how to unfold you love
I don't know how someone controlled you
they bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know how you were diverted
you were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
no one alerted you
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps
Oh, oh, oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
