I also feel myself gareeb in comparison to my counterparts cousons in nepal. We start from similar bacjground and i was the first one to buy car in our generatuons while my cousons were still on bike .but now they all have bigger n more expensibe car than mine while i still ride a decade old sedan.

Their house are much more bigger and beautiful than mine . Usa is too expensive compare to nepal . I feel so miserable and insure compare to my cousons in nepal.

My kid ask my why my brother car in nepal is much better than that we have here made me feel so emberresed . Sometimes i feeling like selling stock in low just to buy a roomier car but my other isntinct stops doing it . Tyotas are still selling 1ok plus on their marked price in rav4 prim hybtid

Maybe we need to compare ourselves with the 97% who are grinding everyday just for their basic necessities and not just compare with our cousins and relatives who have a) ansisteral properties or b) taken bribes or some other commission or tax envasion endeavors.
People are struggling , let me rephrase that, dying, in Nepal right now if they dont have inheritence and tey to make it honestly.
When we visit Nepal we should try to see, like put effort consciously to see, the beggars, the street sellers, the renters who rent from locals in ktm , the restaurant workers and anyone who is trying to make it without selling their land or just trying to survive with honest work.
I met several waiter and wettress in Nepal going school in the moring and working 15 hrs a day hoping one day they too can make it in life. I also met a lady in her 50s chased by nagarpalika at 3 am while trying to sell some cigarettes and chewing tobacco in a nanglo in thamel. Also met one guy who travels from banepa to sell some stuff on tthe side of durbarmaeg and changes 3 buses everyday to do back and forth. And so on and so forth
The question here is: are they not Nepali citizens? Are we really gonna gnore ignore these people and say Nepali ppl have money just looking at our cousins and relatives? Are we suffering from the first world problems now?

Nepal is in miserable shape for majority of people. Few will always make it, but country success should be measured in terms of how average people ( 80% in middle leaving top and bottom 10 out) are doing.

These 80% in middle, are people without significant inheritance in Kathmandu or other major big city, without government job. They are struggling like hell. Men’s in their house are either abroad or away from home for job, or doing some self employment. Their family is broken and make only enough to live by.

Nepal is expensive in every way. Real-estate price is artificially inflated , doesn’t match with income of these 80% in middle. There is no real effort or investment toward job creation and retaining people at home. Heck we can’t even make roads , even when we have money.

Nepal is exporting human and imports everything else . I don’t know how they survive there , if they want to make honest living. MBBS doctor spends in average of 40/50 lakh to become doctor and makes 40 Thousand in salary after 3/4 years of experience. How will they buy land for 1 carod and make home with another 1 carod.

If doctors, engineers , professors can’t make one house in life time, who else can. Even for businesses not everyone is big business, all mom/pop type businesses falls middle 80% , and can’t do much.

Life in social media and Kathmandu is deceiving people. It’s stuck and loooks great from outside with remittance money, but family are broken, people don’t have opportunity to make living and make small houses.

I don’t see how land prices will recover in country where people don’t have hope and can’t dream.
