U.S State Dept for Nepal - Level 4: Do Not Travel Nepal #TPS
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/nepal-travel-advisory.html
Not sure why it's taking time for #TPS extension or redesignation by DHS since we only have less than 60 days before expiration. I thought we'll have notice by now, but not. Maybe we'll have a notice around September first week. Thoughts?
@divine-gal any link to sources or is it your inside source?
I am not fully sure just heard at a discussion of TPS at clubhouse you guys can follow that because adhikaar group ran that TPS discussion on clubhouse

So this is not the official Adhikar ko room in clubhouse but I got the discussion link from he room "Nepali Kurakani" They conducted the discussion room follow Nepali Kurakani Room.
I also somewhere feel there is going to be some delay decisions on TPS due to the massive arrival of Afghani nationals they may get special visa protection similar to TPS or other.
For redesignation or for residency ?
@sanaklaal i think @divine-gal is talking about redesignation or extension
रिडेजिकनेसनको र एक्स्टेनसन हुन्छ बाई सेप्तेम्बेर पहिलो हफ्ता तर सिटिजनसिप ऐले हुदैन
oh I was talking about extension
Devine ... since the deadline is 4th oct. uscis must publish the notice by sept 1st week . There shouldn’t be any delay further.
@divine-gal I hope they redesignate, it will be helpful for many, but I am not sure if they will redisgante cuz looking at Covid every nation has Covid and they should have some sort of TPS for every other nation in US if it’s Covid is the reason for not going back, but again we are still in the process of recovering from earthquake so that can be a reason for redisgnate, if that make sense lol
Username ur understanding is wrong . Uscis is absolutely going to renew and redesignate tps for Nepal. 44 officials gave signed the letter (including Schumer) and has sent it to the dept of homeland security to redesignate if for Nepal . I don’t k is if u have gone through the letter. Othee countries doesn’t need tps . If u see the list of the countries who have tps are all poor . Underdeveloped , developing countries. What do you think Japan is never going to ask for tps or any other countries even if they have covid disaster . . Due to flooding lot of people were affected , the infrastructure is in the same condition . Nepal has been hard hit by covid too . They have issued a no travel advisory to Nepal . That’s why I think tps will be renewned and will be redesignated .
My guess is they will blanket renew TPS status for 18 months for TPS holders from all countries whose TPS was ended by Trump, but not ‘redesignate’, which would allow new applicants. They will probably give reason something like legislation by Congress is pending bla bla bla.
@sanaklaal I appreciate your point of view, that would be even better if they redesignate!! But That’s just my opinion 😄
West coast : could u be specific...”but not ‘redesignate’, which would allow new applicant” . How would new applicants register if uscis does not redesignate ??
Redesignate means Nepal is not safe go currently. So every Nepali citizen currently here , in 2021, qualifies to file TPS. Renew simply means renewing the TPS of people who had TPS since 2015 for another 18 months. As you know, one of the criteria of getting TPS was to have been in USA when earthquake happened in 2015.
That’s exactly what I was saying .
That is correct, if it redesignates every Nepali currently residing in US will be able to file for TPS
Agreed. Redesignate is the best outcome. Can’t wait to file for TPS EAD and find new job lol.
I am guessing TPS redesignation by September, and GC from pathway by end of year lol
