GC Holder Travelling Abroad

Hello Namaste Sajha,
I have a concern:

I have GC as a Direct result of Asylum, NP (My National Passport- Still valid) and Refugee Travel Document with me. I need to travel to South Africa for Work Meeting for 3 days.

I wish to travel to South Africa which is not my country of Origin, I have this big question about if i should Use :

a) Nepali Passport + GC and travel? (Convenient to get Visa easily).
b) Refugee Travel Document + GC ? (Difficult to get Visa).

How much into trouble will i get if i use option “a” Above?
Will this cause problem during Citizenship interview (When i am eligible to apply)?

Assuming you did apply for Nepalese Mao based assylum, you are clear to use the first method. Just dont connect through Kathmandu :)./

- If i use method "A", upon my arrival to US. If border officer ask me why did you use your national passport. what should be my correct answer to that?

- Will using method "A", cause problems during naturalization ?

I believe you should travel aboard with option B.
Since you are an asylee, meaning, you are without any country and in a Stateless status in the US. So traveling with Nepalese passport would mean you still consider yourself as Nepalese and Nepal as your country. That might create problem during your naturalization as well as in the port of entry when you return to the US.

That being said, there are several people who used Nepalese passport and traveled aboard in asylee status. And I am pretty sure several of them have become US citizens too by now. So kind of a gamble on your part to take.

I am not a lawyer so it is just my two cents thoughts. I might be right or I might be totally wrong.
