Cruz has his own agenda, but his calculation might have miss fired this time.

Texas is being competitive day by day for him. He was probably thinking of doing some drama in senate , draw some attention and get hold of Texas Republican base for coming election. He didn't counted for something like frame on 6th , which back fired on him badly. It's politics, people take risk and it didn't work for Cruz , this time.
