when will US embassy in Nepal resume visa service?
my US citizen relative is trying to bring his wife here in US and is ready to be scheduled for visa interview (all set with NVC processing). but since US embassy has shut down this service its uncertain when she will be called in for an interview. any thoughts?
not any sooner, i believe this will take at least a year from now if the vaccine distribution process speeds up . Nepal is at high risk zone and test done by Nepal is highly inaccurate . democrats in the office will further encourage shutdown . its been more than 4 months they have resumed the emergency visa services in nepal while the fate of regular visa service remain uncertain .
I called National Visa Center (NVC) for my parents interview which is approved and pending since last July for the schedule interview. All the visa interviews have been paused until Dec 2020 at KTM. The new updates for the Visa interviews will be on Jan 2021.
The US Embassy in India seems to be open, while not in Nepal. Does Trump's EO has to do anything with the visa service shutdown?
I thought India is in higher risk zone than Nepal.
according to US embassy, Nepal yesterday's update:
Immigrant visa cases are being scheduled on a limited bases with priority given to certain Immediate Relative family members of U.S. citizens including fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens, and certain Special Immigrant Visa applications
I thought that was there since a long time!!
If it is new, I hope they will open Non immigrant visa also soon.
Looks like no sign to open anytime soon.......
नेपालमा US Embassy खोल्ने सुरसार केहि छैन जस्तो छ। वेब साईटमा केहि देखिदैन, Feb 1 update बाहेक .
Updated on Feb 16. But still says the same:
Immigrant visa cases are being scheduled on a limited bases with priority given to certain Immediate Relative family members of U.S. citizens including fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens, and certain Special Immigrant Visa applications.
For Tutepani:
Biden has not rescinded Proclamation 10014. This will expire on 31st March unless extended.

One thing I am curious is, is the visa services is completely closed or is it the in person interviews only. Can the application for visa be sent and pay fees and wait for the visa appointment when the embassy opens? or they are not even accepting the application forms? This is for getting new visitor visa. Previous visa expired and does not qualify for interview waiver.
