CREDIT CARD DEBT IN COLLECTION
hello,
due to pandemic i lost my job and i wasnt able to pay my credit card bills on time. now i got a letter from them saying it will be sent to collection. if it goes to collection, what happens other than a drop in my credit score? will i be arrested? will collection agency bother me all the time? i heard it will stay in credit report for 7 yrs only? any information will be helpful.
thank you!
If you need to stay in US, buy house, rent apartment, need loan and others , don't let it go to collection, you will regret it. Pay minimum payment if you can. Some jobs require some +ve credit score as well.Yes it will stay 7 years. Its a dark blemish.
TIME to start ghanta on gas station and pay the bill.
Talk to them and pay minimum. You need credit to do almost everything ( even to get some job).
You can call the credit card company and request covid assistance to due to loss of work. they will work with you to defer interest and keep payments to minimums.
Also you did not had to even make minimum payments for 2 months on many CC.. But I have not checked it lately. If possible try not to mess up Credit . This thing will hunt you down the road. But each case is different. Good Luck
Nasty Nas — that’s Vantage score 😝
833 Vantage score = 672 FICO Score (FICO range from 300 - 850)
FICO = (Vantagescore - 501) * 1.12 + 300
FYI - Ninety five percent of creditors check FICO scores.
To OP — please, mess up (or ditch) your wife/gf but don’t ever mess up your credit. I’ve been there and trust me — it’s worst. Like folks suggested...work it out with your creditors. Give some SOAB story to them but do contact them. In your case, it looks like you’re genuinely in trouble. They are more than willing to help you out. Good Luck!!
When I forgot to pay my $60 of my final phone bill, it went to collection agents. It blo0dy stayed there in my bad credit for 10 years. Not worth it.
