Nepal’s Kanchan Amatya earns The Legacy Award from the British Royal Family

Nepal’s Kanchan Amatya has earned the prestigious royal honor, The Legacy Award, one of the highest civilian honors given to a young leader by the British Royal Family in the United Kingdom for her social action and humanitarian work.
Amatya along with nineteen other award recipients who hailed from across the UK, Canada, Malaysia, Nigeria, Tanzania, and India were awarded by His Royal Highness Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Princess Diana’s brother Lord Earl Spencer during the royal award ceremony. Amatya emerged as one of the top 20 outstanding young people who have demonstrated their ability to inspire and mobilise new generations to service their communities. She is the first Nepali youth leader to receive this honor.
Amatya was earlier recognized with the 2019 Diana Award Roll of Honor. The winners were selected from a poll of nominations by an independent judging panel which included Baroness Lawrence OBE, Holly Branson and British Airways CEO and Chairman Alex Cruz.
Amatya said she couldn’t be more proud, as the royal family including HRH Prince William and Princess Diana’s brother Lord Earl Spencer paid tribute to her work and that of other young leaders who hailed from around the world.
Kanchan Amatya’s mother Krishna Amatya receives the honor from Lord Earl Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother on her behalf in London.
Collecting the honour on Kanchan’s behalf, her mother Krishna Amatya said that as a mother, she was immensely proud to have a child who “is so compassionate and has so much kindness in her”.

पहिलो नेपाली जस्ले वेलायती शाही सम्मान साथ मानवता सेवा पुरस्कार प्राप्त गरे
काठमाडौँ जावलाखेल भै हाल अमेरिकामा बस्दै आएकी नेपाली चेली Kanchan Amatya कन्चन अमात्यलाई शाही सम्मान साथ मानवता सेवा पुरस्कार प्राप्त भएको छ ।
वेलायती शाही परिवारद्वारा समुदायको सेवाका लागि नयाँ पुस्तालाई प्रेरणा र परिचालन गर्न आफ्नो क्षमता प्रदर्शन गर्दै मानवता र सामाजिक कार्यमा गरेको असल कामको मुल्यांकन गर्दै अमात्य लगायत वेलायत, क्यानाडा, मलेसिया, नाईजेरिया, तान्जेनिया र भारतका २० जनालाई उक्त पुरस्कार प्रदान गरिएको हो ।
उक्त पुरस्कार ड्युक अफ क्याम्ब्रिज प्रिन्स विलियम र डायनाका भाई लर्ड एर्ल स्पेन्सरले पुरस्कार समारोहमा वितरण गरेका थिए ।
२०१९ मा डायना अवार्ड रोल अफ अनरबाट सम्मानित भै सकेकी अमात्य अमेरिकन म्यागजिन फोर्ब्सले एशियाका ‘फोर्ब्स ३० बर्ष मुनिका ३०’ २०१८ को सूचीमा पारिनुका साथै उनले अमेरिकाका पूर्व राष्ट्रपति बिल क्लिन्टनद्वारा संचालित क्लिन्टन फाउन्डेसनको प्रेसिडेनसिएल क्लिन्टन ग्लोबल इनिसीएटिव अनर रोल अवार्ड २०१७, २०१७ एभ्रिडे योङ्ग हिरो अवार्ड, २०१८ योङ्ग लिडर्स अवार्ड पनि प्राप्त गरिसकेकी छिन् ।
अमेरिकी कांग्रेसमा युवा तथा बालबालिकाको हित तथा अमेरिकी संसद प्रतिनिधिसभा तथा अमेरिकन कांग्रेस समेत जिम्मेवारी पाएकी अमात्यले राष्ट्रसंघमा नेपालको प्रतिनिधित्व गर्ने सबैभन्दा युवा महिला भै प्रतिनिधित्व गर्ने अवसर पाएकी छिन् भने राष्ट्र संघको साधारण सभामा वक्ता बनेर झन्डै ३५ लाख जनसख्याको प्रतिनिधित्व गर्दै बोल्ने अवसर समेत पाएकी, बेलायत को इम्प्याक्ट ईस्क्वार्डले गरेको एक सय जना को सूचीमा २५ बर्ष मूनिका युवा नेतृत्वहरुको सूचीमा पनि छनौट भएकी छिन् । अमात्यको परिचय the UN Women’s Global Champion for Women’s Economic Empowerment and UN Zero Hunger Champion, a Global Changemakers Fellow (British Council London), Founder of Helpless Women and Children Service Society Nepal (HWCSS), OK Ambassador to Women Prevention and Protection Nepal (WPPC), Ambassador of Peace to World Peace Foundation (Thailand) and country director of Youth for Youth Organization Nepal, UNICEF Global Board of Generation Unlimited को रुपमा पनि छ ।
अमात्य विल क्लिन्टन फाउन्डेसन संस्था अन्तर्गत नेपालमा संचालित दिर्घकालिन माछा पालन संस्थाकि संस्थापक तथा कार्यकारी निर्देशक पनि हुन् जस्ले खाद्यान्नको असुरक्षा र दिर्घकालिन जल संस्कृति गरीबीको समाधान गर्न मद्धत गर्नुका साथै ग्रामिण महिलाहरुलाई बित्तिय सहयोग, प्रबिधि, स्थानीय पूँजी प्रदान गर्नुको साथै आफ्नै स्वामित्व साना उद्यम संचालन गर्न तालिम समेत दिने गर्दछ ।
उक्त पुरस्कार कन्चन अमात्यकि आमा Krishnaa Amatya कृष्ण अमात्यले ग्रहण गर्नु भएको थियो ।
