Misleading interview. I have heard many people talk this way. The main reason is that many who come to US come from an elite and good familial background (I am not talking about super elites though) and had average to good access to previleges in Nepal (and I mean this in the context of the socio-economic conditions of Nepal).
When they arrive in US they drop down to the pool of low socio-economic group and will have to work their ass off to make money and the living. At the mean time most of these will also spend good amount of this earning to buy the luxury they once dreamt of e.g latest phone, car, sending gifts to Nepal (as a matter of courtesy). To recover this cost they have to work even more (which turns into a cycle) and hence this saying - life was easy in Nepal.
These people do not see how much hard life is for people of low socio-economic group in Nepal eg. kids who work on microbus, homeless kids, young people who migrate to kathmandu and work in hotel, restaurant, people who sell vegetables on the street, and people in the villages and rural parts of the country etc.
These complaining people have only seen life in easiest part of Nepal (dominantly Kathmandu and few other cities), had wealth transferred from their ancestors and are mostly the ones who did not had to do any labor work.
Most (and I mean most) of the people from under average socio-economic family cannot afford to come to US and mainly migrate to Middle East as laborers, Korea etc. the few good and smart ones will get to work in hotels, airlines etc. but for the most of them the life is more difficult than for the ones who are in US.
The guy in the interview says - you cannot make your own schedule. Does the kid working in restaurant or any other laborer in Nepal get to make his own schedule?
Key thing to understand is life is difficult for anyone and everywhere if you belong to the low socioeconomic group in that part of the globe. The irony is that in the US the one from low socioecnomic profile can purchase few luxuries from his/her earning because the earnings are relatively high and the product prices are relatively low compared to the people of low socio ecnomic profile from mostly other countries. But, if you keep up with luxury every time the cycle of earning-spending never ceases and you have to keep your ass on the work to pay the credit for what your purchased.
Many people will take a few sample from their surroundings and then make a holistic assumptions and inferences about others. The main reason is people do not know how to do statistics and check properly if a certain thing/process/phenomenon is true only locally but not globally. You should know that when making a comparison between peoples you have to compare the ones who are working the same jobs, had same level of access to education, age, attitude towards work, family stability etc.
But too much of this.
I can tell for the most part his interview is misrepresented by his personal experience. He is exaggerating what really happens in US, and if did not happened anywhere else.
On the last note, life for Nepalese in IT are being much easier compared to the ones who do other jobs. Well there is a reason for that, but many fail to understand. This will be another story.

i think this uncle is somewhere is in North Carolina or in the south maybe working on some patel's motel. See the hypocrisy of Nepali ppl, he says crap about everything job , life , security but he's working in Motel to get his son settled in the US. If it was so bad why not take him back to kathmandu. who is this guy anyway ? is he a celebrity or something? why do we care so much about some middle aged guy who is sharing him 1 year of life in Usa on some random you tube channel. this interview should just disppaear from youtube with like 10 views but we're giving so much importance that this is going to be a viral.
ehh02 : haha unkal is not at fault, seems a decent man trying to help his son out, he is doing a fathers duty. not a very well known person in Nepal but seems to be a tv presenter in a small channel. just that he came 2 US at his time of retirement n there is nothing much he can do to change his circumstances. but as u said he is spreading misinformation to the youths about this great country. i saw his interview trending in YouTube.
he is not wrong on what he is saying but he represents the story of very few Nepalese of his narrow circle basically who are illegals, dv winners at late ages like him and some other very few non skilled deprived Nepalese community based on NYC . what he needs to understand that unlike Australia and Canada, every student after graduation in US gets a decent lifestyle . his son will prove this if ever he gets his graduation.

Your head is messed my Nepalese living in New York, did not my car , car is almost like a pet elephant. Instead of understanding the situation , his head is stocked with it. Something very personal must have happened? I am guessing that “पल्कियो बुढीको साथि संग , अर्को सल्कियो आफ्नो घरमा “ hope that was not the reason he wrote a very nice story about it.
Regarding bed bugs: even 5 star hotels अरे not untouched. If one room has infested , only treatment of whole house is helpful.

as others have pointed out, he sampled a small section of a lifestyle of a group and generalized everyone else's in it.
his is a very 2D explanation to a 3D reality. that's incomplete information. he painted spring in black and white.
someone in money management or IT or big pharma or engineering should give him a bird's eye view of the amazing opportunity this country has provided those who seek those opportunities.

those aspiring to apply for student visas and those seeking new avenues for personal growth and education, please don't be discouraged by this interview. ask away your doubts rather in Sajha - i have seen lots of good info shared by those who have been in your shoes before -- or write to the universities you are are planning to apply to, or go seek advice from the US embassy in Kathmandu.

These are youtubay Nepali self pro claimed reporters. Most of them do not even have proper camera and use their phones to shoot videos. All they care is make us angry or happy and either way they will make money from our views. This youtubay must be really happy because he got lots of views from the viewers from the US. That is all there is .
