To those- who have traveled to Australia from the US and back:
I was wondering what are the steps to getting a visit visa for seven to 10 days in Australia. This is for a non-citizen person (Nepali passport bearer currently under TPS and having the advanced parole document) embarking from the US and returning back probably around Sep-Oct. My questions are 1) how long it takes to get the visa process completed? 2) What is the cost of processing the Australian visa? and most importantly, 3) whether there will be any immigration hassle while coming back?

Any inputs will be appreciated. Thanks!

I think your chances are better if you get your approved AP so that the govt of Australia will know that you intend to return after your visit.

The process is pretty straight forward, you can lodge Visitor Visa (Subclass 600), online via https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/visitor-600

Application fee is AUD 140. The website says processing time is between 20-28 days. I got mine in less than 20 days.

For documents,
1. Bank Statement - Proof that you have enough money to stay and leave Australia
2. Invitation Letter from Relatives / Friends
3. Employment Letter - Proof to return back home
4. Travel Plan

Good Luck.

Hello dalle_momo,

did you have to show medical reports and biometrics?

Thanks!

Do US passport holders need to take visa for Australia?

No. You don't need those. At the port of entry, they will ask you where you are going to live. That's it. Shortest immigration I have ever experienced.

US Citizen doesn't need a visa but needs ETA (https://www.eta.homeaffairs.gov.au/ETAS3/etas),

I applied twice through my close relative in Australia, Subclass 600. I was denied twice. Documents i had:
1. Copy of TPS.
2. Unexpired AP.
3. Letter from employer about approved travel time.
4. Valid job offer letter.
5. Bank statement with over 15K for last 6 mont.
6. Relation verification and other essential docs from my relative.

Reson: Since i was in TPS. They found i have no ties to USA. They also said that my TPS is expiring June 2019 and they did not find any evidence that i will be back to USA. I applied October 2018 and Jan 2019.

I hope this helps. Best of luck !!! please let me know how your process goes.

Sorry to hear that Visa thing didn't work out for you. Thanks for sharing the information. This will be really helpful for folks who are planning to apply for Visa in Aus.

I applied in September 2018. I had GC when I applied. Documents I presented were
1. Bank Statement
2. Invitation Letter (From Relatives)
3. Employment Pay Stub / Work Letter
4. Copy of GC
