Nepalese youths just 10, 12 or 15 years back who didn’t have or used cellphones or even those lucky ones who used a pentium processor computer with 10kbps dial-up or adsl connection were a lot happier, human, humane and socially alive than the Nepalese youths these days despite owning the latest Iphone with 4G,5G and has everything on a single tap.

Although back then youths only had books and magazines as a source of information, they were literate in their fields better than this generation. Those Nepalese youths undoubtedly are doing very well in almost every field here in US and all over the world coz they didn’t waste their precious years and time on Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and Social medias.

And here on Sajha these youtube washed teens and youths complain that they don’t see their future bright, are fed up, feel worthless.
If Internet( Social Medias) vanishes from this world, I bet my life that this world will be blissful, socially alive and like heaven.

Dunno about you, but I would not have a job if there was no Internet. If you're referring to just the 'social media' part, then you'd have to chase a newspaper to convey your messages like this to people outside of your acquaintance. I'm not a bog fan of social media, but Internet... definitely!!!!

It is the social media and the most time wasting Youtube. Internet’s other name for the youths these days has been Youtube, Facebook, Instagram or a quick google search for the things they don’t know.
Even google search has degraded Human Qualities.

Back in the days, if somebody didn’t know anything; they used to seek answers from mentors, ask another person, used to visit Libraries, go through books, go through Journals, use an encyclopedia, use a dictionary and dig out the information they were looking for. This is how Human Beings were and are meant to be, look for answers ownself or with the help of another human being or ask someone who knows it, not in a virtual world based on a page generated by an automated search engine.

AdrianDaju-
I disagree with your thoughts about internet. Like everything has two sides, so does internet.
It is there for anyone to use it, some use it for right reasons some the opposite.
It has made easier for lots of people who seek to gain knowledge, especially, underprivileged poor people who can't afford cost of education.
I can tell you hundreds of negatives about old school system, and old days, kids being punished to the extent they are permanently damaged, teachers molesting students on and on...but we had no choice then ,,,now we do. Giving people choice and freedom is never a bad thing AdrianDaju, it's up to them how they use it.

Everybody has their own opinion. If everyone agreed at what was right, this world wouldn’t have been a mess.
This is something I have personally experienced and have expressed it in a comparative way at how we were back then, and how the kids these days act; seeing my own nephews, small cousins and kids around as I myself am not a parent yet.

It’s been a year or more, I have completely got rid of Youtube, Facebook, Instagram or any such social media and I have been so much productive, socially alive, peaceful, happy, blissful, thankful and things only I feel inside myself. Laziness is zero, no more depression or feeling low, no more self esteem issues. This is from my own personal experience and myself being someone who didn’t own or used a cellphone 15 years back, instead I used to spend most of my time playing Cricket during school days back in Nepal.

Internet has been helpful in every aspects till date education wise or work wise, but the quality of life and social skills degraded after owning a smartphone, laptop and a fast Internet connection with social media and Youtube in my case. I still use Internet, but minimally for work purpose, Gps and only for platforms like Sajha where one can seek answers from a fellow human being, share information, help someone in need and so on.

So this is something from my own personal self realization and analysis within. I am happy and thankful now that I got rid of it. That is all. As Teatalk said Freedom is never a bad thing, it’s upto you how you use them.

Its good we know there are downside of technology especially with social medias and kids. Without good Parenting and Supervision it would have never worked out even in the past without social medias. It is no different now.
