Folks,

My employer just started my GC filing process via EB2. The company attorney submitted PWD today and says it takes around 3-4 months to approve. And, next 6-8 months for PERM. I would be qualified to EB2-NIW and was talking to another attorney on my own.

But considering time, effort and finance, I agreed with my employer for EB2 process. I now am concerned with the fact of its longer processing time. The attorney says it will take somewhere around 1.5-2 yrs. Can you guys share your recent EB2 experiences? How long did it take to approve your case? I'd appreciate your input.

Thank you,

GK

3-4 months for PWD. 2-3 months for advertisements if things go smoothly and then file I-140 so about 10-12 months at least. NIW get approved usually in less than 6 months most of the time.

Thanks for your inputs folks.

Abhilasha, did you file NIW or regular EB2 via PERM? Can you please elaborate a bit?

@guitarc I am not expert on NIW but it means National Interest Waiver. NIW does not require PERM filing but to qualify, one should have Advance Degree like Ph.D

@KhaiK these days all Employment based applicant have to appear for visa Interview and for that your file goes through various USCIS office (Nebraska/Texas - NBC Missouri - and your local USCIS office).  First transfer = file transferred to NBC from NE or TX (initial filing); second transfer = file transferred from NBC to your local USCIS office for interview.

Seems like I made a mistake by not going via EB2-NIW. It would have save a great deal of time.
