Wrong DOB in passport & nagrita- please suggest
Mg dad has wrong DOB in both Nepali Passport and nagrita. He just got a new english birth cirtificate with corrected DOB. Can he get passport with corrected DOB based on birth certificate and what is the process? He went passport office and they told its not possible as passport date is same as nagrita. Nagrita office told that corrected nagrita cannot be issued. Has anyone gone through this mess. Can he get US immigrant Visa with incorrect DOB in passport?

I am not a legal advisor in this matter, as far as I know, it is better if you correct the passport as nagarita's date. But again, check the date in the corrected birth certificate and nagarikta too. make all the dates same.
Thanks aietey. Govt office is giving really hard time. PP and Nagrita both has a same incorrect DOB. He needs PP worh corrected DOB.
I think its better to fix the passport with the correct Nagarikta and run only one place which would be PP department. I think they should amend as per Nagarikta. I think they are just trying to squeeze out some money as usual case. And after getting the fixed PP, then I would say, English Birth Certificate is not not a biggie..
Govt said its not possible to fix nagrita. Getting Nagrita will great pain. Can he just get PP with corrected DOB so that he can get visa and travel to U.S.?
If नगरिकतिको जन्ममिति and Passport DOB correspond correctly, केहि फरक पर्ला र? As you recently prepared the birth certificate, isn't it easier to get new 'verification of birth facts' document from local government office that exactly matches the passport and nagarikata dates?
It is, however, possible to correct the nagarikata date. नेपालको नया कानून परिवर्तन भएको हुनसक्छ, तर २०-२२ वर्ष अघि मेरो मामाको छोराको पासपोर्ट बनाउनु अघि नागरिकतामा जन्म मिति सच्याइएको थियो। Birth certificate को चलन थिएन, त्यसैले उसले एस एल सी दिएको स्कुलको प्रधानाध्यापकले बिद्यालयको अभिलेख अनुसार यो जन्ममिति सही हो भनेपछि सी डि ओ अफिसमा गई सोहि वोडाका उ भन्दा जेठा ५-७ जाना छिमेकीहरूले सच्याएको जन्ममिति सही हो, निजको जन्म भएको मलाइ याद छ.....etc भन्ने सर्जमीन गराई सच्याएको जन्ममिति भएको नागरिकता लिएको याद छ। अहिलेको कानून थाहा भएन, तर यस्तै केहि प्रावधान हुनुपर्ने हो।

time to bypass the nay-sayers and unhelpful staff, and see the district officer instead. explain your situation and they will find a way to do it. one of my cousins was in your situation and his dob was rectified. but the lower level staff will not help you as most of them are used to just not exploring other avenues. back then, the district officers were called CDOs; i don't know what they are now in the new scheme of things.
People in the nepali government office only do work if it's by the book (things they are used to doing without even a millimeter deviation) or when their superior asks them to do it sternly. I suggest you to find someone higher up in the office who is willing to help. I can feel your pain, I was going mad when I had to ask them to issue me a document regarding marriage and birth when I was not there.
My nagrikta is old, and has only date in BS. My passport date is in AD only, not in BS.
But, the guy in CDO office made mistake and the date is off by 2 days in passport than it should have been in actual BS to AD conversion. So, now all my record in USA are according to date in passport, which is off by 2 days with respect to my actual date of birth in AD.
Thanks all, my US biographic info has my dad’s correct DOB but incorrect DOB in his NP passport and nagrita. Anyhow I need to change his else he cannot travel. I don’t think he will be issued visa and travel with wrong DOB in PP. Letter from CDO or govt won’t help until he updates in PP. I am in a limbo now.
