@ Op...what's the question ?
Decom old poweredge to new R440.
Will be installing Type 1 HyperV Hypervisor with RAID 5 4set 2TB disk
Will be migrating from 08 r2 over to 16... Been googling and found some runbook on best practices but i need to some advice if i should just run 16 on physical server or hyper v hypersor and then install server 16 inside of it.
I have couple of boxes on AWS server 16 which is setup with site to site vpn with on premise.
Basically need to know best practices on it.
Roles will be AD DNS and WSUS pushed inconjuction with GPO and SCCM
Install 16 on VM...i have no idea what i just asked you to do....but dont install on physical.
Would always prefer Vm on baremetal,, ...
You mentioned that you will install hypervisor on the server, why are you asking if you should install Windows on the physical? Didnt you already answer your own question?
Will be using XCP-NG instead.
Max: I have options to do both, but I was more looking for responses from experienced Windows Systems Engineer on best practices to minimize downtime and ft.
