Nepali apartment busted for gambling after showing live video in social media
An apartment in Queens with Nepalese residents was busted over the weekend for illegal gambling. Online news agency reported that three groups of people were playing cards with money in the apartment in Queens New York, when one of the people in the group started facebook live video showing bets ranging up to $200 USD.
About 20 minutes later there was law agency officials knocking on the door and confiscating all the bets and arresting the people caught in the act. It is believed that one of the viewers of the Facebook live video must have alerted the law officials.
The law officials have warned that gambling is prohibited in most US states and that one can be arrested for illegal gambling.

Reports from Texas are saying that similar incidents occurred in Nepali-American house in Euless, TX where 3 groups of men were caught playing 21 cards known as “marriage” and 2 groups of women and children involved in playing “ flush” typically termed as “Fraaash” in Nepali language. The house owner was given citation, women were told not to wear make up for a week and children were given squat exercise.
Those who were playing Marriage were asked to produce Marriage certificate. Those who were living together without marriage certificate were prohibited to play Marriage. Hence, those were the main target on this raid. Some were divorcee among the players. They were spared. I heard.
