Driving License Renewal for TPS holder
I'm a TPS holder and my driving license is from VA and currently I'm in Ohio. When I went to BMV (Bureau of Motor Vehicle) for renewal, they told me they can't renew it as it is already expired (Jul 24, 2018) and my driving license is from VA state. I can get DL only after written and driving test as a new candidate!!!. Can anyone suggest me what should I do? I can't drive to VA without valid license and for that I've to take new test!!!
You should have gone to the Ohio BMV before expiration of your VA license with the TPS receipt letter or vice versa. Every state has its own law so can not comment on specific case. You can still go to VA with expired driver's license and try to get renewed from there and return to Ohio. Since your license already has been expired, I would not recommend you to drive or simply start as a new driver in a worse case.
it does not matter which state you are in. dmv centers are looking for legal documents. do you have I-797 notice of action that DHS sends out after the receipt of your application? take that piece of paper to DMV and u r all set.
If you are a tps holder, it should be a problem, assuming you got the approval notice or the ead.
