US Air Travel during absence of Drivers License
Hi guys I just applied for TPS re-registration 2 weeks ago and while waiting for the EAD, I was wondering if traveling by air(within US only) will be an issue. Usually they look at drivers license. since my DMV in California just gave me a paper license, will that be enough to show at the TSA. Have you guys been through this. man this is a discomfort but gotta deal with it. any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.
Don't you have any other ID such as Nepali passport, student ID, State issued ID etc ? I am not sure if paper DL will be enough...
Yes I have Nepali passport but no other IDs with valid dates. current TPS EAD is expired as we know. I have the I-797 from DHS Regarding extension of TPS. hope that will be enough to confirm my legal presence and passport for identification, temp drivers license as supporting doc..what do you guys think. I am just concerned it might take 3 months for TPS ead. so in the mean time, domestic travel documents with me are not standard/regular for the TSA guys to go through..
if you have unexpired nepali passport, you are all good to travel domestically... you do not even need any other documents...
I have traveled with nepali passport only several times within USA.Whether you are legal or illegal, that does not matter to travel domestically as long as you have unexpired nepali passport.
Thanks Tito-satya. that info is a life saver. Thanks very much
My friend always travel with expired licence and never any issue. all they need to verify is your name on ur id and ticket are same. in case if you are worried carry nepali passport and that will be enough too. Hope nepali passport is valid. They dont check ur visa. just name.
