Hello Sajha IT mitraharu,

I am Learning Microsoft Sql Server. Can you please suggest me either go for DBA or Developer as a beginner. I found developer has wide area but don't know much about DBA. Personally I feel DBA is easier for starter. If i am wrong please correct me.

Any suggestion regarding Sql Server database will be valuable for me.
Thanks

@Bike,

My first suggestion would be none.

If you do not have a computer or any IT background, then try something that is huge demand and less available resources. If you are choosing something easy to break in IT and make a career out of it, I would say the days might have been past long.

If you are want to dwell in Data, then try data analytics, Data Analyst is the role you woould look for. For that you need to learn SQL, R or Python and some data visualtization tool such as Tableau, QlikView or R shiny. Try to learn open source product. This might lead you to aspire you to dive into machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.

If you want to be in the system side, then devOps is very hot in market. Most of the organization is moving to this method of Software Development. Many Training centers and Consultancy do give lot of training on this new topic. This is not a software, but a process, so be in sucessfull DevOps, you might have to learn a lot of tools and processes.

If the choice, is DBA and SQL Developer only, then I would chose DBA, as you will get knowledge of SQL, Physical Model Implementation and system architecture. It would be hard to find a job as a DBA, but these positions are usually permanent hiring.

With SQL Sever, if you are planning to be BI developer, working on SSRS or a ETL developer working with SSIS or analyst with SSAS package, then that also has a decent dominance in market.

If available, I would suggest you to explore some options with AWS and cloud computing. A certification on AWS might be able to land you a job immediately.

Try to find a mentor, who has been in IT in your vicinity. I know as a Nepali, we come with big attitude, it is always nice to have a person who you can ask question.

I was in same dilemma but after working for few years as a SQL developer, I enjoy my work. SQL with BI Intelligence (SSIS,SSAS and SSRS) are fun tools to use.
