Information about Nepalis in NYC
I'm a Nepali person living in the US for over 4 years now. I was looking for a room or apartment to move in to. I came across an ad on Sajha and went to see the room.
He promised to let me have the room but when I called him the next day to pay the deposit(equal to 1 month's rent), he cut my phone call. I sent a message but didnt hear back. All this because I'm not a Nepali from Nepal and he doesn't like that. He himself is an American citizen now and doesn't live in Nepal yet he discriminates against Nepalis from outside Nepal. He thinks that the Nepalis of Myanmar, Bhutan, India, Hong Kong are not the same. He even said that to me.
I'm sad and disappointed that hamrai bich ma, yesto Nepali haru pani cha, that too in a Liberal city like NYC. The worst part is he doesn't have the decency to answer a call, or reply back. Communication bhanney chiz pani cha.

He did it ....it's hard to share apartment with non core nepali specially these bhutnese..tibetean..myanmar..Hong Kong n all though they call them self nepali but they rrally have hatred for our country..a true nepali cannot share space with these people..most of the criminal acts that nepali involved are from these type of non residential nepalese...we now been tagged as country of refugee koz of these bhutnese tibetean and Burmese guys...it's really really hard to share apartment with these guys ...u might be a genuine guy but the community u represent is a real trouble..when searching room try to find house of tibetean or bhutnese or whatever u belong ..to prevent any further trouble to both of u guys

Shekhar Khanal, I am a Nepali Bahun but a citizen of Bhutan. I am just as much Nepali as you or anyone else. In fact, I have lived in Bhutan for 23 years before coming here, while you have been living in the US for many years more than me. How can you say I am not core Nepali but you are? You have no right to say that. I probably have more knowledge about Nepali language, food, culture than you because I have lived in that part of the world. Just because your birth certificate is from Nepal, does not make you more Nepali than me.
I want to live with Nepalis because I am a Nepali, I don't speak Bhutanese or follow their culture. All Nepalis and Bahuns in Bhutan live the Nepali way, and we respect everyone. How can you say we are different from you? You have clearly not travelled to the Nepali speaking regions of Bhutan and India.
The part of Bhutan I come from is developed and the standard of living is good. My grandparents moved there from Nepal because they said Kathmandu is now full of "chor, crime, criminals". So if anyone has a bad reputation, it is the Nepali citizens, not us Nepalis from Bhutan/India/Burma.
You talk like an entitled person, thinking you're better than expected everyone else. And we don't call Indians "dhotis" like you people do. Shameful. Are you a Trump voter?

You shouldn't sabotage someone image by putting his name and number in public forum like this. It shows what kind of person you are. You had a bad experience with him doesn't mean he is an overall bad guy.
ujl Kathmandu is now full of "chor, crime, criminals"...ur this statement is enough that ur not a true nepali..by some means u came nepal as a refugee ,learnt nepal here adopted nepali culture but ur not a nepali.. u n thousands other used nepali land to come here...
because of u guys reputaton in america.. no nepali is willing to share room with u.. including the tibetean.. they are simply scared..looting vandalizing assaulting is in ur blood...fact speaks..
i said earlier u might be exception...stop reaching room in nepali community, u r wasting ur time...
I second ujl. If you had bad experience with someone, let it be. Life's too short to be whining about things like that.
Shekhar Khanal My grandparents and parents are from Nepal but moved to Bhutan 30 years ago. Just like you moved to America, and your children will be born here. It's the same thing. Do you become less Nepali by living in the USA?
I am an educated person working on my final year of Masters degree. And when people meet me here in the US, I always put a good name for Nepali people and most people in my University tell me they want to know more about Nepali culture, food and language from me. I do not care if a person is black, white, Indian, Latino, Korean or Nepali, all are equal to me. You don't have to be so close minded.
Chyaaa I expected so much from my Nepali brothers who're from the country of Nepal, but this is what I get. Since there are no Nepalis from Bhutan that I know in the US, I thought I could live my final year in the US with Nepali people or a family, but seems it's not possible.

#Himalinepali the reputation (tibetan, bhutanese, cambodian, aasamese and other) Nepalese having in usa specially NY is worst than ever.. this is a result of serious of bad incidents these people are involved including robbery, vandalism, immigration scam including asylum ans so on..
as i said earlier not trying to judge with your origin, but it is what it is !! with this identity not even Nepali, indian and bangali community will not be wiling to share apartment with u...in this case i urge u find a affordable single apartment for your self...even if someone shares room with u. u might have to face trouble in future which u never wanted to be a part of it.

Sekhar Khanal I don't know what reputation you are talking about. I have only met Nepalis from Nepal here in NYC in 5 years. Very rare to see a Nepali from another region. I have met Bhutanese from Bhutan but not Nepalis from Bhutan. So are you talking about the reputation of all people from Bhutan, Myanmar or just Nepalis from Bhutan, Myanmar?? Because we are not the same people. Have you met Nepali Bahuns from Bhutan or India before??
I have spent 2 years in my college dorm with a Black roommate. Then next 2 years, I was sharing an apartment with 2 White friends from college. We never had any problems. Now you are telling me nobody wants to live with me? I hope zero problems finding an apartment, and I have good credit too. I just thought I could live with my own Nepali people from any region, but it seems Nepali people are the hardest to live with.

Most Nepalis from other regions like Bhutan and India come here on F1 visa. They have honest people from decent families, and we even have to show a bank statement for the visa, which shows there's enough money for our education in the US. We are not refugees looking for a better place to settle down. We want to go back develop our region more.
Whereas I've seen that JPT manche aaude raicha Nepal bara. There are some great people too but the Nepalis I met here who are criminals, have spent time in a New York prison were all from Nepal.

What about Bhutanese , Burmese or Tibetan Pu**y? Do Nepalese from nepal discriminate against them also? I heard that they easy and cheap around new work , I am pretty sure neplease moruns will be happy to say we all are neplease with them . When it comes to dude we need them to be from Ktm :) , so sorry bro you need to chick to hang out neplease dude.
