H-1B stamping in Nepal and Shram Tatha Rojgaar Mantralaya
Hello Sajha community,
I'm seeking comment/advice from folks who've gone through Shram Tathaa Rojgaar Mantralaya after getting H-1B stamped in Kathmandu. Some say you are required to get an approval from the ministry, some say you are not. I can't seem to find any relevant information on this topic on the ministry's website (http://www.dofe.gov.np/new/). Rumor has it you have to bribe at least Rs. 10,000.00 at the ministry to get an approval letter. I am trying to figure out what I need to do. Following are my questions:
Questions.
1. Are you required to get an approval from the ministry?
2, What kind of approval is it?
2. If yes, how long does the process take?
3. Is bribery unavoidable?
Thank you,
Manasloo
Check this thread where I have mentioned what I did. I did it almost 2 years back so rule should be same. You dont need to go to any mantralaya but if things got changed recently then you may need to ask
H1b is considered as a bideshik rojgari. So technically you need to get a stamp from shram bibhag at Soltee Mod. It was mandated by the government as more and more people from the Gulf were returned in the coffin. The bottom line is that they force you to get life insurance for this stamp. So if in case something happens to you abroad, then your family in Nepal get money from insurance.
Now, for the USA, TIA staffs do not even ask for it. Only a few people in TIA know about F1, h1, b1,b2 J1 visa.
For me, I just got it because I do not want to take any chances. But if I had to do it again, I won't even bother.
I did it recently but no one checked at the airport. It's basically your luck. If they check for it and you don't have it with you, you won't be allowed to board the plane. If not, you are fine. Its better to get it done.
Thank you everyone! I appreciate your feedback. Sounds like it will be best if I get the approval anyway.
Any comment on what the process was like? Did you have to bribe the ministry staff? How long did the process take?
Thank you
Nepal doesnot have shrum samjhauta with USA so this requirement of getting shrum swikriti for h1b is bullshit. Don't even think of it and please do not confuse people
