Hi,
I am planning to go Nepal and do my H1B stamping there. I have My TPS approved but not applied for EAD or AP. I have few questions, any suggestion or experience shared from sajha friends are appreciated.
1. Does having TPS affect the H1B stamping process?
2. Can i apply for AP from TPS as backup?

Thank you.

"1. Does having TPS affect the H1B stamping process?"
No. As long as you have maintained H1B (or even F1 as an example), having TPS by the side does not affect your original status (as long as you have not used TPS EAD card to work). Since you have not used TPS EAD, let alone applied for a TPS EAD card, you will be good.

"2. Can i apply for AP from TPS as backup?"
If a legit firm is sponsoring your H-1B, I would not worry about getting AP.

I am also on the same situation. Are you employed directly or through a consulting company? Also, will you get client letter if you are employed through consulting company? I am planning to get AP as a backup.

@Torilauredai Thank you.
@siddarthagautam I am through Consulting Company. I will get client letter.
I did my Undergrad on ME and working as Java Dev. for last 3 years.

@SajhaFriends
Does having different degree affects the stamping process?
Anybody has such experience?

Folks I would also like to add that, if you want to maintain TPS you MUST get AP to travel OR your TPS renewal will be DENIED. Regardless of your status if you have a TPS and chose to leave the country you have to get AP.

Regarding having a different degree than the work fields. YES/NO in your case ME or anything engineering will be closely related to Programming which is also a form of engineering. You might want to prepare a smooth answer on how you transitioned your knowledge from ME to the programmer.
