I have my return flight from ktm in as two different parts ..i bought first one from ktm to major hub in US..and i have a separate ticket from that major hub to the place i live (final destination). There is about 8hrs lay over at this major hub.
How does the baggage checkin at TIA work in this case? Can i check in and get my boarding passes from ktm to my final destination?
Can i check in my baggage from ktm to my final destination?

It looks like you bought a domestic ticket from JFK to nowhere, Alabama and from KTM to JFK separately. I do not think you can check in for your domestic ticket at TIA.
If both were operated by same airlines, you might have been able to get your luggage to final destination.
Best bet is to check with the airline directly or your travel agent if any.
