Hi Everyone. I am a student here but recently got selected in DV Lottery 2018. And I am unsure if I have to go back to Nepal to process or can adjust my status here?? If I am able to adjust status here, Do I have to fill DS-260? What are the first steps needed to be done after being selected in DV? Any information/experience would be really helpful. Thanks

First congrats..
Second is your case number lower than 7500?

Because the trend for nepalese getting selected thru DV has some cutoff.
Its upon you what you want to go for.
Fill DS-260 and show your intention what you want to do with your case after you are comfortable.

They will start processing 2018 from october 2017.

My case no was less than 7500 for DV2014.  I was also worried what to do at that time.

I started very late since my cut off date was June or july 2014. I filled DS form and showed my intention FOR AOS around March 2014.

If you are confident that you will be going for AOS. Fill DS-260 form and wait till your case number becomes current on visa bulletin.

Then start searching medical doctor from USCIS website or medical test.

Pay DV fee...

Look for immigration forum ....

Thank You First of all. Yes my case is under 7500. Actually its under 1000. So do I actually fill DS-260 and wait for the visa bulletin to release out the visas which actually starts in October 2017. We need to file this wherever we are be it US or in Nepal right? That is the first step for now right? And after getting selected in the second lot, then fix and appointment with local USCIS and go for AOS??

Lucky You!!!

Now fill up the form. That's the first step.

This form DS-260 have the option to unlock and modify it. (But during my time it was different.)

If you are selecting AOS option. Then you will get confirmation on your email that your case has been transfered to USCIS (which you consider 2nd letter),

If Your case number will be october. So you should start Medical examination atleast 2 mths ahead of your cut off date.Pay your DV fee; Follow instructions wisely.

If you need further info on AOS or CP . follow this forum as well

Congrat'! As far as I know you don't have to go back to Nepal. According to this US gov article- If You Are Selected: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/if-you-are-selected.html selected DV winner should immediately fill out the DS-260. I did just that and put together a step-step guide on how to fill out the DS-260 video here https://youtu.be/4Mj-26ahMjk Hope this helps.
