I know there are great "R" experts in Sajha. I would like to learn it to play with data analyses and visualization. Brief background: My domain is healthcare data and statistics. I have been using SAS & SPSS for data management, cleaning and analyses. Now need to add R skills in resume.

I have been exploring Coursera and other online forums. It would be great if you could suggest the best place to learn it.

Thanking in advance for your for your time and inputs!
Cheers!

I took the one offered by Johns Hopkins on coursera and didn't find it too useful for actually learning R.
Maybe edX is better. Looking for suggestions from other members.

datacamp.com is the best to start R programming (basic courses with hands on exercises are free)
coursera for statistical applications

Do you have any IT background ? Also is the cert a requirement for a job or something you want get for your self ? If not a requirement I would not get it and replace it with some better certification instead.
Only entry level jobs might require a compTIA . Even though I hate cisco , CCENT or CCNA would probably get you to better places. They do cover a lot of security stuff in the CCENT i believe, CCNA security is more geared towards security.

I recommend a Linux certification more than a compTIA. Linux is very widely used and most of the security architecture are built around a linux kernel.

My job requires me to get it within the first 6 months. Thanks for the suggestion. I think I will start off with the Security + for now and will get CCNA down the road.

Haha that doesn't mean anything at all .... what do you have to do ...is it internal IT environment or for customers. If so what kind of technology do you have to get into.

Sorry to the R learning folks for hijacking the thread.

I took a R class last year and I did not like it a bit. I think R won't stay around for that long anyways.

R is somewhat weird kind of programming, feels like mathematic equation and gets extremely boring. I tried it but could never get a grip . I quit after a week or so. SAS is interesting
