Hi... SQL SERVER DBA is the best option if you have some knowledge or have background of computer science or IT... because by fresher it is very hard to survive as DBA because a nature of issues need to face, so by this for long term is absolutely the best option and after experience you have a great opportunity to grow in industry as well... QA is easy going to enter the IT industry .. but yes you need to face more completion to get the job... think twice to target your long term goal... best of luck..
Go for Oracle dba. More money there.
Can someone share ideas on SQL DBA vs SQL developer for those who would like to go for SQL career

SQL DBA :- It is kind of Admin role, you need to maintain the SQL server performance, security, backup restore, installation, patching etc.,, very low you have to do some programming .. so it is kind of system admin of SQL SERVER.
SQL Dev :- Need programming work. In dev you need to write a sql skripts to create, stored proc, trigger, views etc, so you must have a knowledge of SQL skript language, this job required more logical concepts rather then admin.
Hope this will help you..
Oracle DBA is tough rather then SQL, it is hard to crack the interview for fresher, also Oracle DBA salary is high but expectation also very high for that, so by showing fake experience not work here and hard to survive as well, you need very good training here for Oracle.
You can email me himalroom@gmail.com.. I will let you know how to crack the interview of SQL DBA and get the full time.. If need training I also provide the training for SQL Admin and SQL DEV....
Any developer can do sql server. Almost all ..net developers can do sql programming as well as admin work. There is very little chance to find job because any developer or lead developer can cover sql work.

No bro... that is not true that any developer can do a sql server dba or dev work... SQL SERVER is not that all can touch..either you must be DBA or DEV for SQL Server. If you are SQL DEV then hardly you touch the SQL SERVER PROD server...Only Ops or SYS DBA can manage the SQL SERVER real prod server... So forget that any developer can do sql admin job.. that can be possible if company is very very small and want one person to handle all and that is very rare case...
Can we also get ideas for SQL Server/ Oracle Developer/DBA from the perspective of job search time, and jobs availability in the market as well? How the biling rate are on C2C and how it will be in Full time.
thanks
Hi Bro... Let me explain little bit according to product wise... means like MS SQL Server, IBM DB2, Oracle, MySQL etc lots of RDBMS product... most popular is MS SQL SERVER the reason is cost and resource available... but other product also doing very good ..
What mean Oracle developer, SQL server dev, mysql Dev ... that means you must have these product knowledge also plus know of skript language to develop object for these... that common language is SQL skript language.
Job search time best is between Feb to Oct.. what I observe , my personal view .. might be differ from others.
Now availability, if you can show more then 4+ years of exp.. you will get 2-3 calls daily for sql server dba jobs, so the market is very demanding but supply is low, you can see by this call per day.
Bill rate for C2C start from 40/hr for 4 years exp... if you have 6+ exp then it goes between 55-60$/hr very easily... fulltime W2 start with 70K to 120K easily ... that all matter of bargaining.
Hope you got the point....
Does anyone has experience in ETL tools like informatica? I have worked as Java Developer in my previous project but now I want to change my career as either ETL developer or SQL developer. Which one do you guys think will be a good choice for both short and long term from the perspective of job search time, job survival and jobs availability in the market?
Thank you.
Hi.. There are lots of ETL tools available in market... if you stuck in one ETL tool then market is limited for that... and if you go for various tool then its take time to you to be master on that.. I suggest go for SQL DEV + MS ETL tool... that is in very demand now a days.. if you see the requirement that is like " SQL programming skill and SSIS,SSRS, SSAS" ... these are deadly combination... rates for these skilled pro is very high..
Can it also be shared some experiences in Java?
Obviously.. you have java exp... for you it is very easy to understand it... also when you working as app SQL dev then that really help... in resume java give you little bit push as well.. as you have a dev background.
