ktmlady, just curios ...of all the airlines available to fly to US why are you choosing Air India ? I presume you are purchasing ticket to or from Nepal to USA.

If you travel via Delhi it's lot cheaper. They don't allow luggage as international airlines which I don't like. Other than that, flying up to Delhi and then taking a flight from their will save u some bucks. Delhi airport is very good and the staff did seem professional.

@adhikari_bandhu I am trying to get just one way ticket for now, so Air India seems much cheaper compared to other airlines.

@Oh_Gaathe : what do you mean by they don't allow luggage as international airlines? do you mean they dont allow 2 luggage to carry with you ?

The transit time in Delhi is 15 hrs.

2 months back, when my fren went to nepal through delhi from jfk, he also had 15 -16 hrs of transit. he said flight from jfk to delhi was good but at delhi he was handed his luggages back, I mean luggages were not transfered from flight to flight so he had to roam around for all that long hrs with his luggages worrying abt it. then later same checkin process and luggage weight issues. if u have 2 big luggages with u, there's gonna be a problem about weight issues at delhi airport. don't forget to check weight n number limits for luggages from delhi to ktm.

I have traveled several times with Air India in the recent past years from US to Nepal via Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkotta and return. I have not experienced any hassle or issues at the airport or with the Air India. I would fly with Air India and transit via Delhi (or India) if there is noticeable fare differences.

I would not fly through India.
Like @nozzs mentioned, you are given your luggage back and you have to re-check-in the luggage. 2 luggage are not allowed and you are supposed to pay around $100 to check-in 2 luggage (This has happened to one of my friend). Plus forget about duty-free alcohol, they confiscate it saying they don't allow Alcohol in the flight even if its duty free.
