Friend of mine got me a reading glass from Nepal. It's a brand name police and he said he put Rs 7 thousands. I was in shock as I used to pay Rs 500 for glasses. Do your think he is telling the truth?

its just 70 bucks after converting to US dollars, which is cheaper then here. so just pay him. Fake Ray Ban, Gucchi , LV are all over Nepal so it doesnt matter what brand he got from Nepal.

Retailers know buyers and give different price to different customer. There is always mark up price for price bargain and someone asks for brand name that is the time to mint money.

Reading glass (+) ? U can buy at CVS or walgreen w/o prescription unlike long distance (-) glass. Timro tyo monthly food budget baat $15-20 nikalera kine hunthyo, if u cant afford to spend more. ::)).
Aba $70 ko lagi ke mitrata todne, chup chaap paisa deu ra birsi deu like a BAD DREAM, or treat it like some unexpected expenses like parking ticket. Dont lose too much sleep over $70. Yaha manche haru nindra na aayera nindra aauna kai lagi doctors kaha hundreds of dollars falchan, timi $70 ko lagi 2-3 raat ko nindra fali sakyau. #FeelBadForYou.

It can be totally true. I just came back from Nepal last week and I happened to look into sunglasses at Kathmandu Mall. One of the Police sun glass was about 6k. There's always bargaining in Nepal, so final price depends on how much people bargain. I ended up buying a RayBan rather than Police at Rs 4500. And it wasn't reading glass. To put prescription lens into glass cost even more. So I wouldn't be surprised if he says 7k. Thats reasonable if the quality is good.
Branded prescription glass in USA costs more than 300 dollars so be happy about it.

The price of glass in Nepal depends on location and owner of shop not quality. I had bought police polarized sun-glass for $10.00 and a Porsche prescribed lens for $30.00 in Nepal. I also own Lacoste prescribed glass bought in US. You can own either branded or generic, but its longevity and looks varies on person to person. Truly, I am always amazed by US merchandise.

Sweesher should try to stop over spending money on food and overpay on fake glasses (consumer awareness). Who screen the authenticity of branded glass in Nepal ?

70 is not bad, 2 decades ago , one of my friend paid 1500 RS for the frame only.
Are you checking the price in US now ? Then it is too late for that. If you order reading glasses in US  it will cost you more that you paid for. Hope you are not checking on your friend if he had made some money with marked up price. He suggested what he know or the information he rely on.
