1 day to thank and pet the dogs and 364 days to kick and ignore them completely.

If you believe that you are better than other because you put a garland around the neck of a dog one day of the year, it means you are trying real hard to redeem your sin of how you treat them the rest of the year.

Fact: Dogs live eating human shit (literally shit) and garbage and are kicked around, run over by cars everyday in nepal. People in Pulsar bike will run over dog and they do not even flinch. Who cares, it is just a dog, that is the real truth of how we treat them. Almost every stray dog suffer from multiple diseases, broken limbs and sever traumas. They are neglected, beaten and butchered when these diseased dog wonder around the neighbor where heartless people live.

Fact: There are other culture that do NOT worship dog but treat them as a part of family, far better than Nepal. Yet they don't brag about how great they are.

So leave that pride of Dog puja to yourself. Regardless of what your belief says about dog (god, messenger of Yamraj etc etc etc), they are NOT (not at all) treated well in our culture. If only these dogs could speak....... Don't make a fun of yourself to the rest of the world by bragging on such non-sense.

The hard fact is nepalese treat dogs like $hit! Just stop fooling people that nepalese people are great in regards to Animals. They are actually one of the worst countries in the world who completely disregard animal rights and act like a monster. I hope you are getting where are I am going comment. Yes I am talking about killing 36,000 animal in the name of some weird god named Gadimai or Ripping a goat apart alive in the name of religion.
So just don't tell me some $hit that nepalese love animals because that's just a joke.

@sajhamitra don't americans enjoy Turkey on thanksgiving? What about bulls in Spain? What about brutality in cow farms across US ?
If you are true vegetarian then you have right to say something otherwise stop insulting others religion.
Yes i agree there is no respect for dogs in Nepal but you have no fking right to insult some others religion like that.

@facebook, Yes I agree. Americans enjoy turkey on thanksgiving and that's BS too. I never said americans are 100% right. I would said that's just some fcking mentality to find some excuse for wrong doing just because someone else doing same wrong mistake. If you eat meat for food that's fine. Human evolved eating meat. I have no problem with that. But just don't give me some f**ked up mentality excuse to kill an animal. If you kill an animal, kill it respectfully that's all i am asking. I will point finger to all the religion not only just nepalese religion for every single wrong doing and would not feel proud for wrong practice just because it's my religion.

No one can deny the fact that lynching a live goat is barbaric, to say the least. It should be stopped right away.

That is what we are taught by our most learned elite people I mean those people who knew Sanskrit and lead our lives . The other day I had Dewali party at my work and one of the orator saying that it was the most celebrated day , I was thinking why but I could it let it out  ? Because there is Laxmi pujaa and the goddess of Wealth.
Almost every religion  they offer mercy " Come to me I will take you sin"

In our religion our sin will taken away by pujaari doing some ritual and giving money / wealth, the more you give you,  your ancestor will get a ticket to Haven. Most have benefited from a dog and he put dog as a part of ritual in Depaawali. We hit and bit them but once in a day we take care of them and open the door to haven. I and you may have seen /heard children not taking care of their parents while they were alive , when they pass away we stay  13 days in hardship faking ourselves.

Facebook, it is not because we do not express ourselves about how other cultures treat animals here in sajha that we are blind to the cruelty towards them in Nepal.

I agree with sajhamitra.while still remaining respectful to our culture of what is called kukur tihar,I just wish people treat street dogs the same for the whole year!just give them sth to eat and don't hurt them.It really hurts to know how brutal people are to throw stones or hot water at these helpless creatures and break their limbs and leave them to die. But,amongst all these,I see silver linings and some organizations including STREET DOG CARE have managed to give street dogs a shelter they need and care they deserve.Their KUKUR tihar was the best one I could ever imagine.

This thread is about DOG, and not about your holy COW. Please start a separate thread or join Narendara Modi with his fundamentalist Hindu ideology. It is people like you who make everything sour and make it about religion.

Sadeekxa,
Sadly, the 2 most involved organization were started by foreigners and they are still run by foreign charity and donation including STREET DOG CARE (German??). They come all the way to help the helpless dogs of Nepal.
Our culture has not reached to that level of consciousness to feel pity on animal (except for cow for religious reason). We can brag and say whatever we want, the reality is we lack empathy, compassion and care towards animal.
Of all the millions of NGOs in Nepal, there might (might be, not sure) be one or two NGO for stray dogs of Nepal. You know why? There is NO MONEY in it. See the real picture?

Vhootee,I can hear you.Street dog care was an initiative by some foreigners and still majority of the volunteers there are foreign people.of course, the centre runs by the donation and funds from these people.however, lately I am really impressed to see appreciable involvement of Nepalese and see their help come through either volunteering as care takers or donations of essentials including food and medicines.Even I have volunteered there a few times.still,we cannot totally blame our religion or culture for the wrongdoing of people(gadhimai jatra is still there though and it needs to be stopped right away)It's the mindset of cruel people we need to have pity upon.and yeah, the question still remains why isn't there such centre run by Nepalese?may be there isn't enough fund and people aren't willing to donate, indicative of most people aren't kind enough to animals.

@facebook, just because i do not post about other country/religion bad practices in sajha doesn't mean I do not condemn about their actions.
Yes I criticize bad practices about my religion more because I love my religion and I want it to end it's bad practices before some other country point to my religion. Yes we should all celebrate our festivals and religion but at the time its your duty to point finger on bad stuffs and help to get rid of it.
Sorry I am not a person who can just be proud of whatever my ancestor handed over to me. I chose to criticize, question and help to fix it.
