I am thinking to get into .NET world. I have been working as a Firmware Engineer for some time now with decent C and C++ experience. I would like to switch into Software world and thinking to get into .NET market. Can anyone help with study materials/contents that I need to focus on. I would like to self teach myself for few months before doing self marketing. Trying to bypass indian consultancy or something similar (किर्ते रेजुमी को कारणले ;-)). Can someone help?
Thanks,
Futyakarma
.NET is vast. If you want to do web-app development. you will have to familiarize with ASP.NET MVC, Jquery, Javascript, Linq, SQL ...
I have shit tons of pdf books if you want. Just name it :p
Thought so bro. My question is: what all those consultancies cover within 2-3 months of training, since its so vast?
It is going to be different across consultancies but i would assume they would go over webforms, sql , ADO.NET, MVC, MVVM, Entity framework, WPF, WCF,WFA and maybe little on source control. (Tortoise or TFS) .
Ofc, you will not be using all those technologies but you get the idea. One thing you could do is, call the consultancy and ask for their course schedule. they will be happy to provide you with one.
If you want to be web developer, C# , SQL, JavaScript, MVC should be enough. Also, LINQ is always good to know.
Thanks bro.Any book I can refer to for those?
You can get all tutorials for .net. Follow Venkat's channel.

@futyakarma, venkat vids on youtube are awesome, I used to be a financial analyst, got laid off in 2009 and now a .NET developer, learned all by myself. Check out udemy pluralsite also if u have time.
