Hello everyone, Sky rocket phone bill

Mero last month ko bill $3000 aaie ko chha. I have made some international calls previous month and the result was such a disaster. I though T-mobile has made free international calls to Nepal because of the earthquake that took place on the April 25, 2015 and aftershocks afterwards. However today I got this huge bill stating I have $3000 bill due as of july. Nice suggestion from all the mitra will be highly appreciated.

Thank you
Dhanyabad!

Did you made the calls to Nepal or other international countries ? If it was made within the period when T-Mobile waived the fee for calls made to Nepal then I think T-Mobile will waive those. In my statement too, I see that the calls made cost me around 1200$ but those were waived which means I paid nothing but my regular monthly bills.

Call them and ask for bill explanation. If you made the calls during the earthquake, they should be able to fix the issue.

Aww,

What was your carrier? T-mobile credited all my international calls (Destination - Nepal) that I made from April 25, 2105 - May 31, 2015. If your carrier was T-mobile, you will automatically see that in your statement. If not , check your billing statement when was that call made. If the calls were made after 31st, you are screwed , my fren !!!

OR, you can negotiate with your carrier. No clue how it works !!!

Good luck !!

Alright,

Even if you made all those international calls to Nepal in 'outside' of the promotional offer of free calls for Nepal - call T-mobile and explain them that either:
-You were unaware of the charges per minute for international calls or
-You thought T Mobile was still offering complimentary phone calls to Nepal during the time you made all those calls

Talk to them, explain them that you cannot afford to make that payment and that you have been a valued T mobile customer for a long time etc. Whatever good reasons you can provide. They will most likely reduce your charges to a minimal probably to a few hundred dollars. If the person you're talking to at T mobile s not able to give you a good deal, ask to speak to the supervisor but be nice to them. Polite but firm.

Hope it helps. Good Luck.

I believe you continued calling Nepal even after May 31 and that 3000 dollars are charges to those so many hourlong calls made after t-mobile's grace period. One thing you can do is talk to t-mobile customer service and tell them ur honest mistake that u didn't know they stopped free calls from may 31. Generally they reduce to certain amount if not totally waive but it all depends on how you can convince them and how lucky u r.

On a separate note I would like to take a moment to acknowledge valuable suggestions provided by SuperSixNine, ny2 and other friends.

@Alright - I did the same thing in 2007 when I did not know that I had International Call service available with my network (Carrier = T Mobile) and that during those times I had a plan for only 450 Minutes a month and that I was in love with a pretty girl in Wisconsin and while working in a gas station I'd call her day or night. Probably called 2000 hours in a week (I know!). They reduced a whopping $2300 bill to a $450 and changed my plan to a little bit expensive one. Since 2012 I do not have international call service on my phone with my carrier and I pay an Inner City subsidized subscription called "Walmart's Family Mobile". Sorry, TMI.

Bottom line: Please do what @SuperSixNine and @ny2 said. It will work.

When you talk to T mobile agent, make sure that you get help from someone who has a very good English and understands what they say.

Someone who has authorative voice and has dealt with similar issue before, you can even offer that person $50 or $100 to save you $3000.

Good luck and blessings.

Just be courteous to the customer service representative and tell them you are international student and don't have money to pay such amount. Let them know about the hardship you have been going through as a student and on top of it the earthquake made it even more economically insurmountable.

One more suggestion, go to their facebook and leave a message on their wall. So, that it will get attention and they might waive your balance to get positive marketing.
