Summer class requirement for F1 student
I am a grad student on F1 visa and I have 3 classes remaining to graduate. I wanted to take 1 online class in summer and 2 classes in the fall quarter. I was told by my advisor that if I take only 1 class in summer it has to be in-class not online. Since summer is an optional session, I was under the impression that it is acceptable to take an online class in that term. Can anyone please help me sort out this issue?
Hmm...strange. I would think you would be allowed to take as many classes (including online classes) during your "vacation" semester, as long as you were full-time previous fall and spring. Did you tell your adviser that you want to use the summer as your "vacation" semester? I don't know about grad school but for undergrads, I would tell the adviser that I intend to use the summer as my "vacation" semester (and enroll in the online class) and get a reduced course load permission for the last semester, if you need 3 classes for full-time.

Different strokes for different folks!! It all depends upon the university. Some will allow, whereas some (like yours) will come up with all these bullsh**.
Good luck
First time I am hearing it. On-Line or On-Campus it should not matter. Talk to Int'l office to find out.
jpt007 bro, s**t like this happens so often. You know what, some of the universities will not even let you take more than 1 class in summer (hell, some won't even offer any summer classes), some don't let you take more than 1 online class ever even if you're in a good standing.
