I think this is the best time to focus on decentralization of Nepal and focus on developments in other parts of Nepal as well.
Everybody is saying they want to rebuild KTM but i think it's time to rebuild a new capital maybe ? It is unfortunate that the disaster happened but Sindupalchok district has the most affected about 2000 people lost their lives whereas in KTM less than 2000 have died yet the government is only focused on rebuilding Kathmandu, why ?
Why not build sindhupalchok ?

Time to move out of KTM build other parts of Nepal.
IMHO.

They say more than 800,000 people aleady left Kathmandu and the streets look deserted. Don't expect government to do anything. Create your own initiative. Use social networking. As long as there are jobs people will be attracted to that part of the country.
Having said that we do need government. Good roads are necessary for decentralization. Perhaps another big airport far from Kathmandu.
I'm just throwing ideas now.

Racheeta, with your idea, our country will go back to Stone Age. First thing to do is wipe out all the politicians and choose very well educated patriotic people to run the country. Racheeta, I would like you to seduce Prachanda tonight and mix poison in his drink.

@sajhasexy: My mom broke all her bones during the earthquake. So, we may have to send your ninja mom or sister. Thanks for the favor to our nation. We will appeal US to remove Afghanistan from the terrorist country list for you.

Racheeta is not wrong in asking for decentralization. Also rebuilding structures which are not direct public interest is wastefulness.

Netas and builders will of course want to build huge structures with people's money. It is in their interest. But local people should be consulted before Dharahara is built. My personal opinion would be that there should be urban planning committe looking after this. In the place of historic Dharahara we should build a bhukampa smarak park dedicated to the people who died in this earthquake. Sundhara area is too much over built and not enough open spaces such as parks.
The park below is in HK.

We definitely need another city like Kathmandu as a backup in many ways, and Racheeta has a point. Kathmandu cannot handle the current density of population at all. Once the population is decreased, Kathmandu will then be cleaner.
It's not easy to move a capital overnight to another city, but to start with we may want to have the fundamental infrastructures like government offices and an international airport in the other city. We can move a ministry at a time to the target city, and for ministerial meetings, they can use teleconference.
Maybe we can use one of the Tarai cities for this purpose.
May be Butwal, Chitwan.
