Sending Money to Nepal :Options?
Hi Guys!!!
I have been sending money(2-3k at a time) through western union or money gram for a long time.I am tired of these charges from Money gram and western union. Now I have decided to send money in bulk through bank, may be around 10-15k at a time. Most probably I will be sending money through Bank Of America. My parents back home only have accounts in government banks. Do we need to create an account in Nepal in banks such as Nabil or standard chartered Bank? How much would be the charges we need to pay here? Is it secured?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@divorceguy: Why the F*** you have to be negative all the time..it's not just me..you have same Fu**** attitude in everyone's post. Don't show your attitude here .Can't you be positive and give some good advice...in my thread I have said is I am trying to send money more than 10k at a time and looking for minimal charges..

Their first transaction is free i guess. You can call them directly to check. Their website is really easy
BoA charges you flat rate of $ 45 for wire transfer. It's safe and reliable. You can do online as well. I have done multiple times and you can send much more that you have intended (just for informational purpose). You can send to government bank (that's what I did). You have to find bank code (or I guess its called swift code) which is unique to all bank though out the world. A quick goggle will do the trick. If your relatives account is in some branch, It's OK because the initially the fund will go to head office and than moved to branch account.
One point to remember - Don't send in local currency. You will get very low exchange rate. Send as $$$ and Nepal bank will convert accordingly based on the exchange rate of the day they deposit the money.
Hope this helps..
P.S. I am trying to bring some money too in few weeks or months, and maybe we can help each other.
Bank of America will give u the lowest rate though like 1$= Rs 89 or something, most of bank does that too. Its better to use western union.
