You can easily change your settings so that people cannot tag you in Facebook. Most of the time people tag you to get free advertisement for their personal benefit such as their company or website.

1. On top bar in facebook, click on the rightmost icon which is a small triangle pointing down.

2. It will open up the following menu. Click on Settings

3. It will open up a new page with the following menu. Click on Timeline and Tagging

4. It will open the following page with options below. Click "EDIT" on the option "Who sees tag suggestions when photos that look like you are uploaded?" Change the option to "No One"

This will stop giving people the option to tag you. Hope this was helpful.

Wait, I don't think people can stop tagging you. What it does is, it will stop tagging you by detecting your face. This will stop 'suggesting tag' not 'tag' itself.
