Indian aid arrives to remove Turkish jet from Kathmandu airport

Kathmandu: An Indian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules transport plane carrying an aircraft removal kit landed in Kathmandu`s Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Thursday to help remove a Turkish Airlines Airbus A-330 that skidded off the runway on Wednesday.

Nepal request to India to send the special aircraft to remove the Turkish plane from the runway to pave the way for resumption of international flights in and out of Kathmandu.

Nepal does not have a crane and airline removal kit of the size required for the task, said Ratindra Lal Suman, general manager of the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority.

"Such a heavy crane and airline removal kit is available in India and Thailand, so we made the request to India," he said.

The special Indian aircraft will remove the Turkish airline from the runway to clear the way for resuming international flights that have been stalled since Wednesday morning.

Turkish Airlines on Wednesday urged the Indian Air Force to send in its aircraft to remove the crashed jet.

According to an official, Teknath Sitoula, the rescue team has started repairing the tyres of the Turkish jet to ease the removal process, which is likely to take five hours. The total weight of the Turkish plane is 250,000 kg.

As a result of the accident, TIA has been shut down on Thursday and all international flights have been cancelled till 5 p.m.

The passenger jet had skidded off the runway and veered onto the grassy shoulder while landing at the TIA on Wednesday morning. The flight from Istanbul was carrying 224 people when it ploughed into the grassland on the left side of the runway at Kathmandu`s fog-covered airport at 7.45 a.m.

Regarding aid, and responsibility which aS my.first comment, it was from ICAO, rule. U said I politicize, which you gave up. Regarding compensation. U failed to understand the meaning of can/ May. You even said we hate India, fyi, I don't hate India. You are a confused person

You know they say, "a confused person sees others the same way".
Regarding hate, u failed to understand the meaning of "don't like"/hate. fyi i never said we hate india, i said we don't like india and i do believe u don't like india coz the thread started with some indian newspaper stating "indian aid" and someone saying "india le nepal ko laaj chhopidiyo" which you couldn't take it and started bragging about it was turkey who called india for support because turkey has to pay for removing the plane and it will take a long time for them to come to Nepal and remove themselves. You even went on to say that India persuaded Nepal to request coz they can't come without Nepal's request/permission.U could not accept the fact that Nepal asked for support from India and went on to saying it was not nepal but turkey who asked for support, it was India who persuaded nepal to request. You created your whole lot of stories just to make a point that Nepal did not ask support from India. That is politics. I never gave up. Who's a confused person once again?

You guys are missing the point. The bigger problem here is - 1 airline skidding off the runway creates this big of a mess for 2+ days. The backlog created must have had enormous impact for sure and talk about inconvenience for the consumers. Yes, we asked for help from India. So what? Tomorrow - an earthquake strikes in , and we don't have enough volunteers (cos every Nepali will find excuses with less actions, more talk ) , we'd need help from India, heck Bhutan too.

Geography doesn't allow an alternate International airport in KTM, so build it somewhere else where there are open lands. Yes, the madhesi land. May be its time to speed up Gautam Buddha International airport and provide an alternate for International airlines, incase of recurrent or unanticipated airport incidents.

Also just want to add, any neighbor ( India, being an economic Giant and with capability ) will definitely prove that they have bigger dick than you. This will only make them feel better, and worse go worse, people can't wipe their own ass tomorrow in Nepal - they'll offer to buy you with promise of a Charmin plant. Will you take it or start thinking about it now?

its just sad that nepal had to ask for help for other nation for this simple task.Yes A ' simple task' not being mad coz it was from india or anyone but think it as a nations perspective.. we still don't have a high mould crane or aircraft removal tech. its just sad.. i really fear where nation as a whole is moving forward in 20 years.. not that i can do anything about it but just because i was born there and there are so many memories of the place. i hope there is something better in future for our nation

Ny2,

Lol, first you throwing politics, while I was trying to explain responsibilities of countries involved according to I CAO rules which India , Nepal and Turkey have signed.

Instead, you trusted and started the debate based on materials published in newspaper.
S second regarding compensation in a free world if someome feels she he deserve compensation they can ask or may file for it.Who will pay or they get compensation or not it is different story, but if they feel they deserve they can file or ask for it. No one can stop them. You fail to understand this, where do you live? In north Korea?

Third, I said hate you said "don't like" my mistake. But here again that news paper is not government newspaper. If some newspaper of some country publish something I don't relate that to that countries government. They r different entity. So even if you say "we don't like India" I disagree.based on private newspaper news I don't make up my opinion about the country where news paper is published.

Fourth "they say" I understand you have nothing to the point so they say, he say, she say, newspaper said, etc is common to you because you do not have your own "say".

Fifth, "you know the truth", lol, too funny, you don't seek the truth ( in this case you don't read international agreement) truth comes to you and reveals itself to you
Regarding who did what, it is clearly outlined in ICAO rules on accident, they have even formats on how to write reports, whose responsibility of accident investigation etc.
But for you these international agreement s are not important but some news published in some news paper is important.

There are also rules for military aeroplane and its cargo, Agreed internationally, but these are not important to you, if something is published in Indian news paper you come to conclusion, because " you know the truth".

@monkyyou, hey u dont have to worry, per bichitrakumar, u may file against TIA or turkish airlines for compensation for whatever losses u incurred, because it's a free world and we r not living in North Korea.

@ bichitra, i never said i trusted those indian newspapers, nepali newspapers and even nepalese tv channels have said Nepal govt requested india's support and TIA officials have given interviews that they asked india for support since we do not have the resouces.

It already started and the estimated completion year is 2018. Chinese company got the project. Unless it gets disrupted by our corrupted govt officials, we would see it ready withing 3-4 years.

@bichitra.... i like ur this comment " S second regarding compensation in a free world if someome feels she he deserve compensation they can ask or may file for it.Who will pay or they get compensation or not it is different story, but if they feel they deserve they can file or ask for it. No one can stop them. You fail to understand this, where do you live? In north Korea?" and so commenting on.....

You said if someone feels she he deserve compensation they can ask or may file for it. That's true but where, how if there is no provision of compensating in a given scenario? Any one can file for compensation they deserve if the system allows, if the system doesn't allow, how the hell can they file for compensation? That's how u failed to understand in this one.

One excerpt from our nepali news, "प्रबन्धक चुडालका अनुसार नेपाल घुम्न आएका पर्यटकको भिसा अवधि यही बेला सकिएको छ भने नियमबमोजिम लाग्ने शुल्क लिएर विमानस्थल अध्यागमन कार्यालयले एकदेखि दुई दिनको भिसा म्याद थप्ने व्यवस्था मिलाएको छ।". you see this, those tourists who are already victimized by not being able to travel now have to pay for additional visa days if their visa has expired or is expiring in these closure days. Yes of course they have the right to get the visa for free if required since that's not their fault, but how can they file if the system doesn't allow at all? Just going to TIA immigration office and filing a paper saying i should get the visa for free is not called filing for compensation if the officers in TIA immigration throws the paper in trash bin saying there is no system of those thing.

I know people deserve compensation, all i am saying is one can file for compensation if the system allows for it in a given situation. If you are still adamant on your opinion, just show those tourists a way to get their visa for free, or else you proved yourself you live in North Korea.

If Indians cant get it done Turkey will get other country involved. No one is doing favor to Nepal. Turkish airlines is paying and Indian Govt is trying to cash in. No need to thank anyone or to feel owed by someone. Its just business people!!

Here are the solutions:

Call 50,000 local gorkheys and pull that thing away from the runway with a rope and steel cable.

Chop the wing and body part in pieces and make a way for other planes to land.

Or just invite the whole kathmandu basi to take what they want from the plane....the whole plane should be gone by overnight.
