It may be very dumb question, but do you know when you apply for an MRP will it still come with the same number as your old passport or will they assign a whole different number?

Your newly issued PP will have a different number.

No questions are dumb. However, I pretty much think it's pretty dumb. JK ;)

Anyway, you'll get a new number.

CS jackass, so all of a sudden you thought of yourself as some kind of expert or the all-knower just because you happened to have this very trivial piece of info before someone else?

I recall there have been a lot of discussions about MRP which I had not paid whole lot of attention to.

Solve String Theory or GUTs and then I'll call you something. Otherwise, you are just an arrogant mindless bastard. If you cannot be polite like other people are, and cannot say anything nice, then just shut your pie hole.

How long did it take for you all to get your MRP passport?

It might depend upon where you are applying from. US or districts?
For my relative, resident of KTM and applied in KTM, took about 45 days.

Its going to take at least 4 months. It'll eventually take longer once people start applying as the deadline day day gets closer, seriously backlogging an already backlogged application process.

There's also an option of traveling to Nepal on a travel document. Its a letter issued by the embassy that allows a traveler to travel abroad in the event that a Nepali national loses his/her pp or citizenship.

Also, its better to submit original nagarikta as this eliminates the citizenship verification process that causes longer delay. The embassy keeps your citizenship at the office instead of sennding it to Nepal.

That's scary. I applied today (December 15). I have to be in Nepal on April 30. That's 4.5 months. I sent the original passport and citizenship.

My application reach to the embassy at DC during holiday (29th of December) and I didn't get any kind of information from the embassy. I wonder if they tell me if there are mistakes in my application form from DC or they will deny the application (if have to) when application reach Nepal.

I am pretty sure that they will see the money order here. But not sure if they check everything ok to sent to Nepal.

Thank you,
daum

Hi Kaliya,

Just send them an email. If you do not get reply within two days, call them.
They MUST have a list of all the applicants and their current status.

Out of courtesy, the embassy calls the number listed in the application, if there's a blatant mistake. That's what happened to a friend of mine- doesn't mean they will call everybody. You might want to check with their policy.

I tried yesterday. The DC office is sending the passport to Nepal in a week or so. I was lucky this time as the guy on the phone was in the good mood to answer whatever I throw at him.

He said, they check all the applications if there are some mistakes before they send to Nepal. If so they will notify you or send back your application to you.

Good Luck
