Going Back to Nepal For Good; What Would You Do If It Was You ?
I've been here in the US for about 25 years. I am a United States citizen. I am tired of living here. Now I am thinking about going back home to be with family. What would you do if you were to go back to Nepal for good after such a long time? What are potential opportunities people can find in Nepal such as myself ? Please share your thoughts.
1. u have an american citizenship
2. u write and probably speak bit of english
from what you have metioned above about you, you cant really do much in nepal. stay where you are mister.
Doesn't it depend upon what skills you have? I mean every single case would be different. I am honing my skills here so that it will be useful in Nepal.

Depends on ur age n if u have been here for ever? Yet u can open or run some industries on your relatives name. That would certainly provide you the sense of doing " something in my own country". And yes open some doors to oppuryunity to people who are forced to go to gulf countries, be it a restaurant, travel agency, or whatever it is.
Main thing is stay where you can be happy!!
Good luck
when you go back you start from zero like you did when you came to USA. Unless your parents are filthy rich or have already set up a business for you. Life is not easy anywhere on this earth brother.
Here you go bro. my envision of thou……. on your way back home....

Right Decision!! Enjoy ur life...Nepal is where u sud be!!!!!
Let alone the energy needed to deal with every aspect of government that one will run into sooner or later.
Follow your heart, brother. No one can tell you that. It all depends upon your circle back there, your skills, your needed to involve whether you will sit like retired or engage actively in the society.
it's a very good decision, no matter how many years you live outside Nepal, you will never feel like home, always that temptations and difficulties, trying to fit in. I wonder why some people always talk about money, like you might have made millions. Oh common what you gonna do with money anyways coz millions won't buy you everything, most probably not your deceased loved ones. There are billionaires all over US and UK. The rat race never ends so I prefer to live like Laxmi Prasad said. i don't have to explain coz everybody knows his phrases. i am leaving too after a year and gonna marry my dream girl who will soon divorce her husband. Home is where the heart is.

After 7 years when I got back home.. all friends I knew were moved somewhere else.. so many new ppl in the area ..I felt like a stranger in my own alleys and corners that once I spent my childhood playing. It was a huge shocker. After 25 years....if you could live back home, u r a saint else I am sure you will find urself back in the US. I always opposed the idea of my 'Ba' that one should go back home to spend rest of the life. I never cared. You die here or there, its same death but living here and there is lot of difference. If you have your whole family here I dont see a reason going back. At least for me.
You would not find anyone who cares for you in difficult times over here in US but you would find at least few in Nepal. That is the difference...As Bittertruth said, when it does not matter where you die, why dont you rather die in your own country? Just my pick.....
You can make new friends in Nepal, if your old friends have moved away, and trust me it would not take you long....You are never a stranger in Nepal but in US, no matter how many years you live, you are always a stranger....
I dont want to suggest you to do this or that, but Nepal always welcomes you!!!
People will not care if you have earned special skill, knowledge but their main concern will be money. You must have brought 25 karod, their math will be 1 caror each year.

Bhaladmi Guy:
Your post says "Now I am thinking about going back home to be with family." There is nothing more important than family. I really like your decision to move back to Nepal for good. I am sure you have saved some money in last 25 years. I am sure you have been going to Nepal once every now and then; so you know what to expect.
Money is necessary to live there so you must have a source of income. I suggest you to put at least 1 crore in saving account of a bank. It will give you interest around 8%. So you will have income of 8 Lakh per year so that you have some cash flow. With rest of the money you can start a business or invest in some other things.
You probably have to lower some expectations regarding health care, sanitation, general attitude of of people.
As you have US citizenship you can travel to countries in Europe and middle east without visa. In the worst case scenario you can always come back to US.
I have been living here for last 14 years and plan to go back in 4 years.
Good Luck!
