One of my friends Jiba Pokhrel has started a Woman's shelter in Nepal. He reached out to me for some funds. Thought I would reach out to all of you. It could be $100, $20 even $1. Anything and everything would help for this project.

where in nepal? what is a women's shelter? how many are staying currently? are they permanent resident of the women's shelter or temporary resident? where is the website? which organizations are supporting the initiative? who is this pokhrel? where is his picture? how to support anyone without knowing his background and seeing his face at least in picture?

I don't think people will readily donate you money without knowing you or your friend Mr. Pokhrel. In order to raise money, first show what your friend had done so far. May be make a website, post pictures, mention abt the plans and programs etc.

Human Development Academy (HuDA) is in Baghbazaar, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Introduction:Human Development Academy (HuDA) is a non-goverment non-profitable organization. It is established in 2009 aiming to uplift the spiritual, economic and social status of displaced woman and children. Right now 30 woman are living in his shelter. His next plan is to open an orphan shelter.
I know Jiba and he is Laxmi Prasad Devkota of our time. He even has put his own money for this purpose. I am just asking money so people may get benefit from it. We spend $30 -$40 when we go out correct? Why not just give that money for this wonderful noble cause?

Yes teaching poor woman is one of the things they do. Another thing is they provide shelter to woman also.

Very noble cause but people in the States are too busy to do money transfer to the bank account. At a minimum you should have a website and allow people to make online payment.

to be frank, i think we have enough NGOS and INGOs in Nepal... Most of them are generally a profit making company rather than a social charity building.. I dont think I'd like to donate cash to any of these organizations any more !! I dont even know if the money is used for a good cause...
Nepal ma kasto kasto registered organization le paisa dekhai dekhai khaidincha tesmathi tahai nabhako organization ko k bhar... Registration bhaye ni j bhaye ni who know where all the money will go??

Is it for only Muslim women?
No it is for everyone in need. It was started by a Muslim but he has 9 Muslim woman and 11 non-Muslim woman as of today in his shelter. I will post pictures and keep everyone posted about the progress.
Why is there so much God's name in it ? I want to support a noble cause but I personally stay away from donating to any religion or cult.
Then I went to this blog (http://islam-n-nepal.blogspot.com/2011/04/human-development-academy-huda.html) to read more about HuDA and I am not happy at its goal:
To enhance the economic and spiritual status of 200 reverted Muslims of Nepal annually
And its objective:
3-1 To construct a building to provide short-term shelter for homeless and helpless reverted Muslim brothers and sisters.
It seems as if this organization is just concerned with providing shelter to only, what you say, 'reverted Muslims'. Is that correct ? Don't you think this should have been clear upfront ? If all helpless women are welcome, that's great.
